Child of Dawn is a thrilling fantasy story that transports readers to a new world where elves and vampires are at war and have been for generations. Leslie Anne Lee, the author, builds a striking world with memorable characters, a tense conflict, and exciting ideas that are sure to hook any fan of the genre.
Child of Dawn follows a world where elves and vampires have been at war for a long, long time. The hostilities between these races are threatening to rip apart The Vale, which is the whole world that they inhabit. The only hope lies in a prophecy, but if this prophecy cannot be fulfilled, then only darkness and chaos lie ahead.
The novel follows the adventures of two unlikely protagonists. Both come from a mixed heritage and have faced significant prejudice and shunning because of it. One comes from human and elf parents, while the other, even more strikingly, comes from the forbidden union between a vampire and an elf, two mortal enemies. The two heroes must face their own prejudices and overcome not just their differences but a lifetime of hiding to save the world of the humans and the mystical world of The Vale.
Anda has always been seen as a witch, as different. But now, her differences can prove to be instrumental in helping the Vale and fulfilling the prophecy. Dagsbrun has always known he was a monster, because everyone around him has told him that over and over. An immortal being, Dagsbrun has tried to rebel against his very nature and hopes to find peace one day. These two opposites now need to find what they have in common and fulfill the prophecy, or else see two worlds crumble before their eyes.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Leslie Anne Lee. Here are excerpts from the interview.
Hi Leslie, It’s great to have you with us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us about yourself.
Hello, I love to write. I have been writing since I was 6. My favorite authors are C.S. Lewis, Thomas Hardy, J.R.R. Tolkien, Stephen R. Lawhead, and Leon Uris. I have a BA degree in English and an MA in Humanities. Child of Dawn is my sixth book.
Please tell us about your book, Child of Dawn.
Child of Dawn is a fantasy novel set in a world where elves and vampires are at war. This war is destroying their world, known as The Vale. Unless a prophecy can be fulfilled, the Vale will fall into darkness and chaos. Two unlikely heroes – a vampire/elf and a human/elf – both shunned by their worlds, must overcome their differences and prejudices to save the human world and the world of the Vale. And in doing so, save one another.
Please share your journey with our readers.
I began writing when I was 6. The first book my mother ever read me was The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I was hooked. My mother and grandmother opened up the door to my imagination, and I have been writing ever since. It has not been an easy journey; often, I have been teased for being “different” and believing in the beauty of the mind and dreams. But I have had people who believe in me, like my English teacher, Greg Stobbe. He would read everything I wrote and always encouraged me.
