In the realm of contemporary literature, few books manage to leave a lasting impression that resonates with the core of human experience. ‘Two Years by Max Tower is one such remarkable work that delves deep into the themes of self-discovery, resilience, and the human spirit’s unyielding quest for meaning. This book, though set in a modern context, touches upon timeless issues, making it a significant addition to the literary world.

Max Tower, an author known for his insightful storytelling and compelling character development, presents ‘Two Years’ as a narrative that transcends mere storytelling. The book follows the protagonist’s journey over a two-year period. The narrative is skillfully woven, with each chapter unfolding new layers of the protagonist’s psyche, revealing the complexities of human emotions and decisions.

The story begins with the protagonist at a crossroads in life, faced with challenges that are both external and internal. Tower’s mastery lies in his ability to portray these challenges with authenticity and depth, making the reader feel deeply connected to the character’s journey. As the protagonist navigates through various trials and tribulations, the readers are taken on a journey that is as much about self-discovery as it is about survival.

What sets ‘Two Years’ apart is its raw and honest portrayal of life’s unpredictability and the resilience required to overcome adversity. Tower does not shy away from depicting the struggles and failures of the protagonist, which adds a layer of realism to the narrative. This approach allows the readers to see themselves in the protagonist’s shoes, making the story relatable and impactful.

The book is also a testament to the power of hope and perseverance. Throughout the narrative, the protagonist’s journey is marked by moments of despair, yet it is the undying spirit to overcome these setbacks that forms the crux of the story. Tower’s writing is a beautiful blend of poetic prose and gritty realism, striking a balance that keeps the readers engaged and invested in the outcome of the journey.

Moreover, ‘Two Years’ is a commentary on the human condition – our innate desire to find purpose and meaning in our lives. Through the protagonist’s journey, Tower explores various themes, such as love, loss, friendship, and the pursuit of happiness. These themes are interwoven seamlessly into the narrative, making the book not just a story, but a reflection on life itself.

In conclusion, ‘Two Years’ by Max Tower is a compelling read that offers more than just entertainment. It is a book that challenges the readers to look within themselves and question their own journey in life. With its rich narrative, well-developed characters, and profound themes, ‘Two Years’ is a book that deserves a place on every bookshelf, promising to leave a lasting impact on its readers.

We had the pleasure of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Hi Max, It’s great to have you with us today! Please tell us about yourself and what it is that you do.

Until my early thirties, I had been a somewhat regular guy. I worked in finance in Frankfurt, Germany, had a girlfriend, and went on with my life without any big issues. I was completely happy in my situation for many years, until one day, the routine of working for long hours and practically only living for the weekends wasn’t enough any longer. I felt an urge to escape the ever-repeating daily patterns of life. I wanted to explore what else was out there in the world. I needed to break free from all the responsibilities and conventions that had dictated my whole life to that point.

Immediately quitting my job was a step too far for me; I was not ready for it yet. I had to slowly approach what was eventually unavoidable, taking one step at a time. I moved from Frankfurt to London, still employed by the same company. Then I moved to New York, still with the same company. And then it finally happened: I could no longer ignore the screams from inside me. I had to face my fears and quit!

What followed was two years of world travel, significant personal transformation, and rediscovery of what I truly am (what we all are) at the core. A journey full of fears, doubts, and uncertainties, which ultimately made me grow, learn to love, and trust in life. My quest for money, the quest for purpose, and the quest for love led me to my new guiding principle in life, which I had previously lost: I am supporting people in need around the world, spiritually as well as financially. With this book, I hope to set the foundation for exactly that.

Please tell us about your story and your journey.

Do you know the feeling of being stuck in your life? That you have achieved everything the material world has to offer? And that you are seeking something more meaningful.

Each one of us will have to face that exact feeling at some point in our lifetime. We have lived our lives in conformity with society’s standards and should theoretically be satisfied with what we have or have achieved: Good degrees, a more or less satisfying job, a house and car, a close circle of friends, and maybe our own family. Yet, we feel that something is missing. That we are not whole. We realize that a life dependent on the external world is no longer sufficient; therefore, we need to look for answers elsewhere. The journey inward commences.

While we are born as “pure” creatures without an ego identity, undisturbed by identification and thought patterns, we usually unlearn this way of living over the decades to come. We follow the accepted norms and let our ego determine how we act, think, and feel. Until we reach the point where we have had enough and start longing for more, each one of us must go our own way to rediscover who or what we truly are; there is no “one size fits all” approach for this (yet). For this, we must temporarily leave rationality, logic, and numbers behind and switch to feeling, trust, and intuition instead. The journey is not always an easy one, but it will eventually be worth it. The only way out of fear is through fear.

We then understand that we are the creators of our own future—that everything is possible. Our own thoughts and emotions play a significant role in how we create and perceive reality. We are more powerful than we think we are, but we have to (re)learn to go beyond our physical bodies and not be limited by space and time. Energy and frequency help us to communicate on a level beyond the perceptible, constantly shaping the life we (want to) live. We undeniably live in changing times, with people around the world waking up, longing for something else, something more meaningful and powerful, outside of our traditional way of life. The exact same thing also happened to me.

Please tell us about the book, ‘Two Years: Quest for Money, Purpose, and Love.’

‘Two Years’ is an eye-opening travel memoir that takes the reader along on my two-year journey around the world. In my Quest for Money, Quest for Purpose, and Quest for Love, you will see what I see, feel what I feel, and grow with me. The story is accompanied by spiritual insights that will help you to see the world from an entirely new perspective.

For me, the reward from giving has become so much more profound than from taking. The shared emotions of joy, satisfaction, and love are among the key “profits” one can make this way and, in my opinion, are much more valuable than anything material could ever offer.

I have decided to pledge a portion of the sales proceeds for donations and charitable purposes, in line with my new guiding principle in life. As I want to involve the readers beyond the actual story of those two years, each one of you shall vote on which specific projects to support in the future. Everyone is part of this enterprise now.

Welcome to a new era of print utility and governance!

    Any message for our readers?

When we reach a point in life where our true self (the soul, not the ego) is crying out loud for a radical change, we should strongly consider allowing and following it to rediscover who or what we truly are. We will then embark on a journey full of fears, uncertainties, and doubts, during which we will have the opportunity to find our purpose in life and create something meaningful for us and society. Let go. Trust. Receive.
