Hi Shalon, Great to have you with us today! Please share with our readers about your book, Motherhood Confessions: Raw stories and lessons learned: My journey through the first year of motherhood.
Hi, I am a carefree traveling nurse transitioning into a responsible mom. Motherhood Confessions: Raw Stories and Lessons Learned: My Journey Through the First Year of Motherhood describes a metamorphosis that doesn’t come easy. This book has a dual purpose of providing entertainment and helpful information at the same time. I share information on how to feed, diaper, and swaddle a new human and what the different stages of development look like. But that’s not all. I also share my internal thoughts and struggles. I share what the delivery feels like and all my fears. The reader travels through time with me. We travel through self-doubt, self-evaluation of life, and values together. At one point, to improve my marriage, I try to be a “surrendered wife,” and share what that is like. This book is so personal I don’t dare share it with any of my coworkers for fear of overexposure.
I lacked family support and experience at the start of this journey. I used my nursing recall, research abilities, networking, and tuning into myself and my child to navigate my way.
Reading this book allows the reader to experience motherhood through someone else’s eyes before going through it. The hope is that by going through it in written form, it won’t be as scary and confusing when going through it themselves. If an expecting mom reads it, they can know that their fears and doubts are normal, yet they also learn how to care for their child. Reading this book is meant to be a multidimensional experience.
Any message for the readers?
If I can do it, so can you. While this book is meant for expecting mothers, I have surprisingly found men like to read it, as well, to understand what a woman goes through. That’s touching.
Fantastic! So tell us, how can people find out more about your book?
