Rediscovering Your Inner Child: A Journey to Wholeness
Childhood can be both magical and challenging, shaping the adults we eventually become. Sometimes, unresolved hurts from our early years linger and influence our decisions, relationships, and self-esteem. In her enlightening work, Healing and Connecting With Your Inner Child: Overcome Childhood Trauma, Learn to Let Go and Forgive, Discover Your True Self, and Live Your Authentic Life, author Jeena Harleen sheds light on how to recognize and mend these wounds. By learning to care for that younger self within, readers can find renewed confidence, emotional freedom, and a healthier outlook on life.
Understanding the Influence of a Wounded Inner Child
Many people don’t realize the power their inner child wields over their adult life. When childhood traumas remain unresolved, it’s as if a confused or hurt six-year-old is behind the wheel, attempting to navigate complicated grown-up responsibilities. Unsurprisingly, this can lead to impulsive decisions, fractured relationships, and a general sense of unease. Jeena explores how these patterns form, revealing that deep-seated fears, anger, and distress from the past can hide beneath the surface, silently dictating an adult’s behavior.
This book addresses an often-overlooked truth: if you enter adult relationships carrying the pain of your younger years, it can create unproductive cycles of guilt, shame, or codependency. Healing and Connecting With Your Inner Child highlights the urgent need to break free from these chains. For many, just acknowledging that past traumas are still at play is a major step toward healing.
The EMBRACE Method: A Practical Roadmap
One of the key features of Jeena’s guide is her seven-step EMBRACE Your Inner Child method, a structured approach designed to foster both healing and growth. Rather than offering quick fixes, this method provides a steady framework that helps readers confront, process, and integrate childhood experiences. Through strategies like self-awareness, practical exercises, and daily check-ins, the EMBRACE approach paves the way for positive, lasting transformation.
- Creating a Safe Space: The book details over ten practical ideas for cultivating a judgment-free zone—somewhere you can cry, vent, and simply be. This is crucial for making honest discoveries about old wounds.
- Embracing Small Wins: Readers learn to celebrate incremental progress—like sticking to a mindfulness practice or speaking kindly to oneself. These small accomplishments inspire long-term habits that promote greater self-love.
- Transformative Techniques: Healing and Connecting With Your Inner Child includes guided meditations, journaling prompts, and visualizations. Each tool is carefully introduced to release pent-up anger, sadness, or lingering resentment in safe and controlled ways.
- Tapping into Creativity: The book also features more than five ways to activate the playful imagination of the child within—whether it’s doodling, painting, or simply revisiting past hobbies. This renewed sense of wonder can breathe life into everyday adult routines.
A Path to Freedom: Letting Go and Moving Forward
For those weighed down by guilt or shame, Jeena offers clear, step-by-step solutions, including four straightforward exercises to release toxicity that no longer serves you. The underlying theme is simple: letting go doesn’t erase the past, but it frees you from being trapped by it. By applying mindful self-reflection and cultivating compassion, individuals can begin to rewrite old narratives.
In addition, the book showcases real-life stories of people who turned their childhood traumas into catalysts for personal triumph. These anecdotes provide concrete examples of resilience, offering inspiration and proving that if others can walk this road, so can you. Jeena’s message is one of hope and empowerment—healing is possible if you’re willing to commit to the journey.

Hi Jeena, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.
Hi, I am a Yoga and Meditation Teacher. I found these practices to change my outlook on life and how to be more present and enjoy the moment. My mother influenced me to do it as she was dying of cancer, and my first child was on the way. She knew it would help relieve my stress. It actually did help me through her passing and also through my divorce.
Please tell us about your book, ‘Healing and Connecting With Your Inner Child.’
This book is about healing from your past wounds as a child. It can cause many problems in relationships if you show up with all your pain without doing any of the inner work.
I decided to write this book because I feel my past pain and journey can be a positive and inspirational story, knowing that you can overcome that past trauma and turn your life around for the better. It is an easy-to-follow guide with meditations, journaling, affirmations, and many helpful tools to overcome trauma and learn how to forgive those who hurt you. It contains positive affirmations to reclaim self-love and more. It teaches one to face that past pain so that it will no longer control or trigger your emotions. This can be a helpful guide to keep handy when old patterns seem to set back in.
Please share your journey with our readers.
I grew up in an abusive home due to my father’s excessive drinking habits and physical violence. My parents forced me to marry my boyfriend as soon as I finished high school, only to fall victim to his mother’s controlling abusive behavior. She kept me as a prisoner basically and said my husband could go out while I stayed in her kitchen. She also told me to never think about moving out and taking her son away from her. After attempts of suicide and realizing this is not how I would like my life story to be, I exited that hellish life because I knew I was meant to do something bigger here. Then, soon after leaving, I fell in love. Painfully, I learned that I had married someone similar to my father with bad drinking habits, disrespect, and a very bad temper. I did not want my kids to learn that this type of behavior was acceptable, so I got the courage to make that big step and leave after years of couples counseling and a trial separation. My way to give back is to use my pain and gifts at the same time to help others on their healing journey. It is easier to empathize with people who have been through similar pain.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
The strategies that helped me to become more successful were believing, manifesting, and not giving up. I did a lot of reading, inner work, and therapy. My kids help me be more successful each day because I have to be a good role model for them.
