“Problems” by Jub: A Window into Inner Struggles
Life can sometimes feel like a maze of stress, uncertainty, and emotional challenges. That universal sense of grappling with the tougher side of existence is at the heart of “Problems,” the latest single by Jub. Hailing from St. Louis, this artist fuses pop hooks and hip-hop lyricism to produce a distinctive sound that resonates with people from all walks of life. Drawing hints of inspiration from NF’s depth and Lil Uzi Vert’s lively energy, Jub molds these influences into a style that feels both relatable and fresh. By focusing on internal battles that many experience, “Problems” invites listeners to reflect on their own journeys and, in turn, discover a feeling of connection.
A Versatile Blend of Pop and Rap
There’s an undeniable charm in Jub’s ability to traverse different musical landscapes. Influenced by the melodic hooks often associated with pop, the artist complements these catchy moments with the grit and storytelling found in rap. The result is a sound that’s neither purely pop nor strictly hip-hop. Instead, it reveals a space where diverse rhythms and introspective lyrics come together, speaking directly to those in search of music that carries both memorable beats and genuine emotion.
This fusion echoes throughout Jub’s discography, but “Problems” feels especially meaningful. With verses that address mental strife and choruses that linger in the mind, the track highlights the artist’s talent for weaving melody into subjects that can be difficult to talk about. Rather than glossing over the rough patches of life, Jub confronts them with honesty and creativity.
Shining a Light on “Problems”
At first listen, “Problems” might catch the ear with its infectious rhythm. However, a deeper dive into the lyrics reveals the song’s real core: a frank discussion about personal battles that arise from mental health conditions or environmental pressures. Listeners may recognize how stress, anxiety, or other factors can erode one’s sense of well-being. Jub’s thoughtful approach acknowledges that these draining experiences are common, yet often misunderstood.
By opening up about internal conflicts, “Problems” offers a sense of camaraderie and empathy. Many can identify with feeling isolated in their struggles, and this track aims to remind listeners that they’re not alone in facing life’s obstacles. In doing so, Jub delivers both emotional resonance and a musical hook that sticks around long after the song ends.
Roots in St. Louis and a Passion for Connection
Growing up in St. Louis played a key role in shaping Jub’s unique outlook on music and life. The city’s rich cultural landscape, combined with the hardships and triumphs witnessed firsthand, helped mold the artist’s voice. Over time, Jub refined a style focused on storytelling—depicting the highs and lows of self-discovery, love, loss, and the endless pursuit of dreams.
The stage is where these stories truly come to life. Jub’s live shows have gained a reputation for energetic performances that draw people in from the very first note. Audiences describe an undeniable spark of authenticity that underscores every performance, reflecting the artist’s desire to forge a true bond with fans. It’s not just about the music; it’s about fostering a sense of community and reminding listeners that everyone experiences ups and downs.
A Powerful Message for Anyone Struggling
The raw honesty found in “Problems” is a hallmark of Jub’s evolving artistry. There’s something striking about an artist who tackles themes of vulnerability and mental health while also offering an energetic beat. This tension between introspection and uplifting sound makes “Problems” stand out, appealing to fans who yearn for authenticity in their playlists.
Jub’s approach proves that music can be both entertaining and enlightening. By highlighting life’s darker corners, “Problems” reassures listeners that seeking understanding or help isn’t a sign of weakness, but rather a testament to human resilience. The track subtly reminds anyone facing a storm of emotions that there’s merit in naming those battles and confronting them head-on.

We had the privilege of interviewing Jub. Here are excerpts from the interview.
Hi Jub, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.
Hi, I make music out of STL. My name is a play on words, so it’s not literally ItsJustJub; it’s just Jub.
Please tell us about your latest single.
My latest single, Problems, tackles the dark battles some face within themselves. Whether it’s because of a mental illness or some environmental factor, everybody experiences something that drains dopamine in some way, shape, or form. I made it for anybody going through something that’s having a hard time understanding.
Please share your journey with our readers.
Well, my journey began in my senior year of high school when I first realized that music is what I do best besides food. Thankful to both choir teachers, Mr Arnold and Mrs Peach-Maunder, for everything I have learned about myself and my relationship with music. I really delved deep into more local artists around the STL area. Attended a few underground rap battles and small performances. I was even blessed to experience the Pops venue. It really cemented my want to be an artist. From there, my friend and I experimented with different sounds and different lyrics to come up with something unique. That was 2017/18. Fast forward to 2020, and I met fellow artist Adonis Faison, and through his guidance, I was able to really start my music career by releasing an EP compiled of what is cemented as my start in the music industry.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
More so a mindset than a strategy, I would say; I always reminded myself why I make music. Yes, I would love for being an artist to be my full-time job, but ultimately, “I’d like to teach the world to sing”. This means that I want to teach the world to speak whatever is going on, good or bad. Nobody should feel like they need to be silent.
Any message for our readers?
If my music doesn’t do it for you, I hope you at least take the message I’m giving.
Thank you so much, Jub, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
