Every artist has a story, yet some choose to tell it through a single style while others explore multiple creative paths. Israel Michael’s album Fresh belongs to the latter category. The project unfolds as a collection of musical snapshots, each one inspired by different experiences, emotions, and moments that have shaped his life.
Drawing from alternative music, rock, hip-hop, and instrumental composition, Fresh presents a body of work that feels both intimate and expansive. It offers listeners an opportunity to connect with the artist’s journey while discovering something meaningful for themselves.

A Collection of Songs with Distinct Identities
One of the defining qualities of Fresh is its willingness to move freely across genres. Rather than remaining within a single musical lane, Israel Michael allows each song to develop its own personality and atmosphere. This approach creates a listening experience filled with variety and discovery.
The album features a diverse lineup of tracks, including Heart Farewell, Banana Cream, Flossin’, 000, Rosewood Forest, Magnificent, Myself, Midnight, Sayoko, Diamond Echo, Monarch, Fallen Angel, Hysteria, Tidal (Instrumental), Loyal Tea (Instrumental), and Babygirl (Instrumental).
Each title contributes something unique to the overall experience. Some songs carry emotional depth, while others embrace imagination, energy, or reflection. The instrumental pieces provide moments where melodies and arrangements become the primary storytellers, adding texture and balance to the album’s flow.
This diversity reflects the project’s central idea. Fresh is not intended to fit into a narrow category. Instead, it serves as a creative archive of different stages in the artist’s life, stitched together through music and personal expression.
The Journey Behind the Music
Israel Michael, known to friends as Izzy, is an artist deeply connected to his Bay Area roots. Growing up in Oakland influenced not only his perspective but also his commitment to authenticity and community.
His musical journey began during high school; what started as curiosity quickly developed into a serious passion. He learned by playing songs from bands such as the Ramones, The White Stripes, and Led Zeppelin. As his interest grew, he studied the work of influential musicians including Prince, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, and Jimmy Page.
Through years of practice and experimentation, he developed a style that reflects both his influences and his individuality. Today, he proudly handles every aspect of his music. From composition and production to recording, mixing, and mastering, Israel remains fully involved in the creative process. For him, maintaining that level of involvement helps preserve the honesty and character behind each release.
His philosophy is simple. He creates music that he finds beautiful. Some songs are playful. Others explore heavier emotions and experiences. Regardless of the subject matter, he values sincerity above all else.
Community, Creativity, and Lasting Impact
Music represents only one part of Israel Michael’s story. His dedication to helping others has also guided many of his life decisions. While studying jazz and classical music theory in college, he pursued a career in education and became a mathematics teacher for students throughout the Bay Area.
Working with young people allowed him to make a direct impact on his community. Helping students understand academic requirements and prepare for higher education gave him a sense of fulfillment that extended beyond the classroom. He viewed education as a powerful tool capable of changing lives and creating opportunities.
That same commitment to empowerment can be seen in his work as co-owner of Haphazardous Records. Through the label, he hopes to unite local artists and create opportunities for underground musicians whose voices deserve wider recognition. His goal is to build a supportive environment where independent creatives can grow, collaborate, and share their art with larger audiences.
A particularly meaningful moment reinforced his dedication to music. A friend once told him that one of his songs had helped save their life. Hearing that his work had provided comfort and hope during a difficult period left a lasting impression. It confirmed his belief that music can reach people on a profound level and inspire them to keep moving forward.

We had the privilege of interviewing the artist. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
“I am Israel Michael, my friends call me Izzy. I create music that I find beautiful. Sometimes my music is silly, sometimes it’s too serious for others to handle, and that’s okay. My message is true. I composed, created, produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered all of the songs I’ve released so far.”
Please tell us about your journey.
“I learned guitar during high school when my close friends handed me a guitar from their music class. I started with Ramones, White Stripes and Led Zeppelin covers. I studied Prince, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, and Jimmy Paige’s solos and kind of made my own sound from there. I care very much about helping out the youth of Oakland, so I decided to pursue a career in education while studying jazz and classical music theory in college. I used to teach mathematics to the youth of the Bay Area at public and private schools. Helping students understand their requirements to be eligible to attend UC and CSU made me feel like I was making a difference in the Bay. While playing my guitar, a friend of mine told me that my song saved their life. It was at that moment I knew I had to keep making music. Like… my music prevented suicide, and because of that, there is new life growing up to this day. I know my music will continue to inspire others to pursue their dreams and create art.”
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
“Practice is everything. If I’m not practicing guitar, I’m practicing lyrics. I’ve kept my eyes on the pages of my books, I stay friendly and keep it real with those who are real with me. I was lucky enough to be gifted with a musical mindset, and I have the patience to take music that I hear and feel within myself and create it. I am thankful for my family and friends. Strategy also isn’t everything – I was lucky enough to have the support of my family and friends. Especially my mom, dad, and Nana.”
Any message for our readers?
“Love yourself, love each other, stop causing pain to others. Also, support REAL art, not AI.”
