Bloom Theory, the vibrant music duo based in Los Angeles, has just dropped a track that’s as playful as it is addictive. Their latest single, “Home Alone,” brings an infectious energy that makes it impossible not to tap along. In this article, we’ll dive into Bloom Theory’s journey from Boston to LA, explore the inspirations behind “Home Alone,” and uncover how the duo’s unique style makes them a band to watch.
From Berklee to Bloom Theory: The Duo’s Musical Journey
Bloom Theory is the product of a friendship that blossomed in the unlikeliest of places: a literature class at Boston’s Berklee College of Music. Menea, a talented vocalist with a penchant for soulful lyrics, and Maggie, an equally gifted keys player, connected over their shared love for music. What started as casual jam sessions soon turned into regular Tuesday night writing sessions, often accompanied by a glass of wine. These nights not only cemented their friendship but also laid the foundation for what would become Bloom Theory.
Initially, Menea and Maggie pursued solo music careers. However, the synergy they felt while working together was undeniable, and they soon realized they were “musical soulmates.” Deciding to combine their talents, they formed Bloom Theory, which has since evolved into a unique blend of alternative R&B, indie rock, and jazz. With a focus on capturing life’s lighthearted moments, their music brings a fresh perspective to the challenges and joys of youth. Now based in Los Angeles, the duo has added drums, guitar, and bass to their sound, creating a fuller, more energetic live performance that draws fans from all over.

We had the privilege of interviewing the duo from Bloom Theory. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Hi, Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
Hey! We’re Bloom Theory, a duo originally from Boston, now based in Los Angeles. We’re Menea (vocals) and Maggie (keys), and we make music that blends alternative R&B, indie rock, and jazz—basically whatever feels right in the moment. Our songs are about the little things in life: the small challenges, the fun, the introspective moments, and everything in between. We love creating music that feels relatable yet playful, and our live shows bring that energy to life with the help of our full band!
Please tell us about your Latest Single.
Our latest single, “Home Alone,” captures the playful yet slightly chaotic experience of being on your own. We wanted to create something fun and relatable, and we can’t wait for everyone to vibe with it! This is the first track of our debut EP, which we are releasing next year. We are so excited to share more of our music.
Please tell us about your journey.
Our journey began at Berklee College of Music, where we met in a literature class. We quickly bonded over our love for music and started writing together during the pandemic. Those “wine nights” turned into creative sessions that revealed musical chemistry. Initially, we released music as solo artists, but we eventually became Bloom Theory, adding more instruments and a full band to our sound. We hit the ground running with the live music scene in Boston, playing at a plethora of different venues and house shows. Now, we’re thrilled to be performing in Los Angeles, sharing our music, and connecting with audiences!
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I think our main strategy as musicians has been getting face-to-face with people. What makes Bloom Theory Bloom Theory is our shows. We have so much fun playing our songs live and connecting with our audience while we do so, and people can tell! Every time we play at a new place, we gain a few more people who are cheering us on, and that feels so special. Another possibly even more important aspect of our project is that our music and our art has always been the main focus. Our music comes from a very personal and honest place, and we are constantly trying to present it in the most authentic and human way, which I think is something that some people are losing nowadays (social media and all…). When people hear our songs, they are hearing parts of us, and I think that allows people to really connect with our music.
Any message for our readers
Find joy in the chaos 🙂
Thank you so much, Menea and Maggie, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
