We had the pleasure of interviewing Daniel Matthew Smith. Here are excerpts from the interview.
Hi Daniel, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share your journey with our readers.
Hi, I started making music when I was 15. I am 21 now. I started off producing beats; then, I moved on to audio engineering a little later. Then, I decided I wanted to try to make music. Since I was a kid, I dreamed of making my songs but didn’t think I had a voice. A couple of years later, I started uploading to SoundCloud, and I’ll admit the songs were bad. I didn’t have any mixing experience at the time. By the time I was 17, around 2020, I had dropped my first song with my sister’s husband and her husband’s friend, called Popular Loner. The song went around the family and all of our friends, and they loved it. I didn’t have an artist name, and Tyler, my sister’s husband’s friend, was, like, call yourself Dannyban$, so I did.
A couple of months later, I dropped a song called Shy. Then, later, I made the song called Myself and then 2 Pills. It was 2 Pills and the song Myself that made me stand out to friends and family. My parents heard my music, which I never wanted them to. I was not too fond of the idea of them hearing me make music because I felt that they wouldn’t like it and judge me. Well, I was wrong; they heard it and told me I had talent, along with everyone else that I knew. Even my cousins, whom I didn’t talk to anymore, reached out, and they loved it. But I haven’t made any music in 2 years. I will soon release a song called Ignore ft. Valious. I am working on the master, and I made it when I was 18.
Please tell us about your latest song, Perfect.
My latest song, Perfect, was made when I was in a deep spot mentally. The girl I met, who was soon to become my wife a year later, had met me, and she loved my music and everything about me. So, I decided to make a song about her.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Some strategies I have used for little but some success was just sending unreleased music to friends and getting their opinions. A lot of them had good ideas; for example, my bsf helped me write the sing 2 Pills.
The song had 2k views in a couple of weeks; I even had a teacher reach out to me and tell me some people showed her my song, and she loved it. But I haven’t reached much success other than learning how to audio engineer myself better.
Any message for our readers?
My special message to my readers is I have a new song that’s going to be coming out soon. I am currently working on masters to get it out.
