Doodle Mama Designs: Where Dogs Meet Creativity
Rachel never imagined that two playful pups and a sketchbook would lead her to create a thriving art brand. As the founder of Doodle Mama Designs, she brings together her business background, artistic curiosity, and her life as a proud dog mom to Mr. Murphy and Sir Theodore. These fluffy companions are more than pets. They’re daily reminders of joy, mischief, and loyalty, and they inspire almost every line she draws.
Doodle Mama Designs is her way of sharing that joy with the world. What began as a small creative outlet during the demanding years of her MBA has now grown into a vibrant Etsy shop called DoodleMamaDesigns21, home to cheerful art, personalized gifts, and seasonal collections made especially for dog lovers.
A Creative Spark Fueled by Dogs
The story starts during Rachel’s MBA program, when her days were packed with classes, projects, and late-night study sessions. While the experience taught her invaluable lessons in leadership and entrepreneurship, it also left her drained. To find balance, she turned to art. Sketching became her way to unwind. It wasn’t long before Murphy’s goofy antics and Theodore’s mix of sweetness and sass started appearing in her doodles.
The more she drew, the more she noticed a pattern: her dogs were at the center of her inspiration. Their silly zoomies, curious faces, and affectionate personalities added a layer of warmth to her designs. Rachel often jokes that her dogs were her “co-founders,” providing constant ideas without even realizing it. Encouraged by her husband, she began posting some of her artwork online. Fellow pet parents loved what they saw. That encouragement gave her the confidence to open an Etsy shop and turn her sketches into something tangible.
Building a Brand That Resonates
Launching Doodle Mama Designs felt like a natural next step. With her MBA giving her a solid foundation in business strategy and her artistic side guiding her creative direction, Rachel was ready to combine both worlds. What started as simple uploads of digital art soon expanded into full product collections. Seasonal launches, custom pet portraits, and playful dog-themed designs quickly caught the attention of customers who shared her passion for pets.
The shop wasn’t just about products. It became a community. Dog moms and dads connected with Rachel’s designs because they recognized the heart behind them. Each item represented the special bond between pets and their people. Over time, Doodle Mama Designs grew beyond a side hustle into a brand known for its cheerful personality and authentic storytelling. For Rachel, every sale feels like a reminder that her art touches lives in small but meaningful ways.
Joyful Products for Pet Lovers
The Etsy shop is packed with fun items that make dog lovers smile. Each product feels like a little celebration of life with dogs. For instance, the Wild as Hell Dog Tee has become a fan favorite, bringing humor and personality to everyday wear. The Labrador Club Sweatshirt offers cozy comfort while honoring a beloved breed. Personalized options like the Dog Lover Sipper Glass allow customers to showcase their pup pride in style.
Seasonal favorites bring even more variety. The Halloween Dog Tote Bag adds a playful touch during spooky season, while Rachel’s hand-drawn portraits, like the Western Pet Portrait, bring personality to any space. Her creative range shines in unique designs such as the Vibrant Surfing Dog Beach Towel or the Surfing Goldendoodle Dog Tee, both of which highlight her knack for mixing fun themes with canine charm. Every design reflects Rachel’s goal of spreading happiness, one product at a time.
More Than Art, It’s a Celebration of Companionship
For Rachel, Doodle Mama Designs has always been about more than running a shop. It’s about celebrating the unconditional love dogs bring into our lives. Her work captures moments every pet parent understands: the way a dog greets you after a long day, the silly quirks that make you laugh, and the comfort of knowing they’re always by your side.
Murphy and Theodore remain her constant muses, inspiring new ideas and reminding her why she started in the first place. With every product, Rachel shares a piece of that inspiration with others. Customers don’t just purchase a tote, a sweatshirt, or a glass. They take home a little spark of joy that reflects the playful spirit of their own furry companions.
Doodle Mama Designs is proof that creativity often grows out of the simplest moments. By blending her business expertise, her love for art, and the inspiration she finds in her dogs, Rachel has built something meaningful. What started as a way to decompress after MBA classes has turned into a thriving brand with a supportive community of dog lovers who cherish her designs.
At the end of the day, Rachel’s mission is simple: to bring smiles, spread joy, and celebrate the bond between pets and people. And with Murphy and Theodore still keeping her on her toes, there’s no shortage of inspiration to keep that mission alive.
We had the privilege of interviewing Rachel. Here are excerpts from the interview.
Hi Rachel, it’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.
Hi, I’m proud dog mom to two lovable goofballs — Mr. Murphy and Sir Theodore, my fluffy sidekicks who keep me on my toes. I’m the founder and artist behind Doodle Mama Designs, where I create playful, hand-drawn digital art, seamless patterns, and seasonal collections inspired by the joy dogs bring to our lives. With an MBA, I’ve blended my business knowledge with my creative passion to build a brand that celebrates the bond between pets and their people. From holiday-themed art to everyday dog mom favorites, every design I create is made to bring a little more joy into the world.
Please tell us about your journey.
Doodle Mama Designs began as a simple creative outlet. While I was earning my MBA, I used art as my way to decompress — after a long day of classes, group projects, and studying, I’d relax by sketching and experimenting with design ideas. Murphy and Theodore became my biggest inspiration, from Murphy’s silly zoomies to Theodore’s sweet-but-sassy personality. Their antics kept finding their way into my sketches, and before I knew it, I was sharing my designs online. The response from fellow dog lovers was incredible. That little side passion grew into an Etsy shop, then seasonal product launches, and eventually a brand with a loyal, supportive community. Today, Doodle Mama Designs is where my love for dogs, my creative expression, and my business know-how come together in the best way.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
• Blending business and creativity — My MBA gave me the strategy and branding foundation, and my art gave me the heart connection.
• Community first — I treat my audience like friends, not just customers, and that’s built loyalty and trust.
• Seasonal and relatable designs — I create for real-life dog parents who love celebrating all of life’s little moments with their pups.
• Consistency — Even on days I feel uninspired, I show up. That steady presence has been key to growth.
• Customer collaboration — Many of my most-loved designs started with a customer idea.
Any message for our readers?
Start before you feel ready. I never planned for my grad school “stress relief” sketches to become a business, but they did because I kept showing up and sharing them. Your passion might start small, but that’s often where the magic begins. If you’re a fellow dog lover, know that every design I create is inspired by real-life moments with Murphy and Theodore — the goofy zoomies, the holiday traditions, and the everyday snuggles. My hope is that when you see my art, it reminds you of your own pup and the special bond you share. And yes… go ahead and give your dog an extra treat from us.
Thank you so much, Rachel, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
