Supporting Brides Beyond the Checklist
Wedding planning is often portrayed as magical, but many couples know it comes with its fair share of pressure. From managing budgets to coordinating countless moving parts, the process can weigh heavily on both brides and the professionals who guide them. Sharon Valentine, the founder of VALS Consultancy, offers a much-needed alternative. She works with clients across the globe to protect their wellbeing, nurture joy, and avoid the burnout that can so easily creep in during this season of life.
As a Wedding Wellness Consultant, Sharon’s focus is simple: remind people that peace and balance are just as important as flowers, music, or any of the big day details. Her support is designed to meet brides and professionals where they are, helping them step back from the stress and re-center on what truly matters.
From Planner to Consultant
Sharon’s career began in the world of weddings, where she served as a planner managing the intricate logistics of ceremonies and celebrations. In 2009, Sharon founded Valentine Weddings UK, an international wedding planning business that flourished for over a decade. She understood the behind-the-scenes realities, from vendor negotiations to last-minute emergencies. Even with her experience, she noticed that stress seemed to linger in nearly every conversation.
Her perspective shifted even more after becoming a bride herself. She experienced firsthand the intensity of expectations, the weight of decision-making, and the emotional strain that planning often carries. The pandemic forced the closure of wedding planning business in 2020.
Two years later, Sharon faced widowhood, a deeply personal journey that reshaped her outlook on resilience and compassion. These experiences combined to form the foundation of her current mission: helping others navigate wedding planning without losing themselves in the process.
Today, VALS Consultancy reflects that vision. Sharon’s work combines professional insight with personal empathy, creating a safe space for clients to breathe, reflect, and find balance.
Gentle Reminders for a Gentle Season
At the heart of her consultancy is the Gentle Reminders Series™, a collection of tools designed to support emotional wellness during wedding planning. The series begins with a complimentary resource, the Start Gently Guide, which encourages brides and professionals to step into the process with intention and calm. It’s available to download at valsconsultancy.co.uk/start-gently.
The series has expanded to include private one-on-one sessions, digital wellbeing tools, and personalized strategies for navigating emotional challenges. These resources are accessible to English-speaking clients worldwide, ensuring support isn’t limited by geography. Brides in the midst of planning and wedding professionals managing multiple clients alike find that Sharon’s approach helps them feel heard and supported.
Rather than offering generic advice, Sharon tailors her sessions to each person’s circumstances. Some may need help establishing boundaries, while others crave reassurance that their feelings are valid. Many simply need someone to guide them gently back to joy when stress has taken over.
Why Emotional Wellness Matters in Weddings
Weddings are deeply personal milestones, yet the planning journey often feels like a high-pressure project. Between financial strain, family dynamics, and endless decisions, it’s easy for the excitement to fade under layers of stress. Brides may struggle with self-doubt or exhaustion, and professionals risk burnout from managing multiple celebrations in rapid succession.
This is where Sharon’s role becomes essential. By focusing on emotional wellness, she reminds clients that the quality of their planning experience shapes the memories they’ll carry into marriage and beyond. A bride who feels calm and centered is more likely to enjoy the day itself. A planner who practices balance can serve their clients with greater creativity and energy.
Her approach reframes wellness as an integral part of the wedding journey, not an afterthought. Just as couples invest in photography or venues, she encourages them to invest in their own peace of mind. It’s a shift that allows people to remember why they’re celebrating in the first place.
Reframing the Wedding Journey
Sharon’s work through VALS Consultancy isn’t about adding more tasks to the to-do list. It’s about creating space to breathe. She helps clients recognize that joy and calm can coexist with planning, even in the busiest moments. Her support provides a gentle pause, reminding brides and professionals that they’re more than the roles they play.
The guidance she offers has one clear goal: to help clients reconnect with themselves while moving through a chapter that can easily feel overwhelming. By protecting their mental and emotional wellbeing, Sharon ensures that weddings become moments of genuine celebration rather than endurance tests.
Through resilience shaped by her personal journey, Sharon Valentine continues to be a voice of calm in an industry often defined by perfectionism and pressure. With her Gentle Reminders Series™, custom strategies, and compassionate approach, she proves that weddings can be planned with peace, purpose, and heart.
For anyone entering the whirlwind of wedding preparations, Sharon’s message is both reassuring and practical: there’s a gentler way forward, and you don’t have to walk it alone.
We had the privilege of interviewing Sharon Valentine. Here are excerpts from the interview.
Hi Sharon, it’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.
Hi, I’m a Wedding Wellness Consultant and the founder of VALS Consultancy. I support brides and wedding professionals across the world with emotional well-being tools, burnout prevention, and gentle planning strategies. Through calming resources, private sessions, and digital downloads, I help people reconnect with peace during what can be an incredibly stressful season of life or business.
Please tell us about your journey.
I’m a former wedding planner who experienced first-hand how overwhelming planning can become — even with industry experience. I was once a bride myself, but later found myself navigating widowhood. That journey reshaped everything. It gave me the resilience, compassion, and emotional depth I needed to help others protect their mental well-being during life’s most pressurised moments.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
After that deep personal loss and witnessing how stress affects both couples and professionals, I shifted my work toward emotional support. VALS Consultancy was born out of love, empathy, and the belief that no one should lose themselves to pressure or perfection. I now focus on helping others feel seen, heard, and supported, whether they’re planning a wedding or rebuilding their life.
Any message for our readers?
Planning a wedding or building a business doesn’t have to cost your peace. If you’re feeling stretched or emotionally burnt out, you’re not failing — you’re human. There’s space for joy, stillness, and clarity even in life’s busiest chapters. My work is here to remind you of that, and to support you wherever you are in the journey.
Thank you so much, Sharon, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
