An Exciting Dive into Space and Genetics
Get ready, sci-fi lovers—Jeremy Clift’s new novel, Space Vault: The Seed Eclipse, arrives on June 16. Continuing his popular Sci-Fi Galaxy series, this gripping story delves into humanity’s uncertain future, exploring space colonization, genetics, and profound questions about identity.
Space used to symbolize hope. Now it’s the site of humanity’s newest conflict. With compelling characters and riveting suspense, Clift paints a future full of challenges, highlighting what it truly means to be human amidst chaos and innovation.
A Mother’s Fight for Her Daughter
At the story’s heart is Teagan Ward, a fiercely protective mother who has endured captivity and genetic experimentation. Her daughter Diana is special—engineered specifically to thrive in deep space environments. But Diana’s uniqueness makes her valuable to powerful interests, particularly the sinister Consortium, determined to reclaim her at all costs.
As Earth struggles with climate disaster and dwindling resources, control of the Seed Vault—a lunar-based repository of vital genetic codes—becomes paramount. Yet beneath its surface lies more than agricultural necessities; it conceals dark secrets about human genetic modification and the next stage of evolution.
Teagan, caught in escalating conflicts and betrayal, finds refuge among the Tritans, an alien species facing their own survival crisis. Protecting Diana requires navigating dangerous relationships and confronting formidable adversaries: rogue artificial intelligence, biotech giants, and powerful factions determined to shape humanity’s genetic destiny.
Ethical Dilemmas and Future Humanity
Clift seamlessly blends action-packed storytelling with thoughtful exploration of ethical dilemmas surrounding genetic engineering, identity, and consciousness. Who has the right to control genetic codes vital for human survival? Can consciousness itself become a tradable commodity?
Teagan’s journey symbolizes humanity’s broader struggle—questioning our core identity in a world increasingly governed by biotechnology and artificial intelligence. These pressing issues provoke readers to reflect deeply, engaging them beyond mere entertainment.
Clift’s story asks critical questions about humanity’s future direction, inviting readers to ponder the profound implications of genetic technology and the true meaning of being human.
Meet Jeremy Clift, Sci-Fi Visionary
Jeremy Clift, a talented author and former journalist, brings unique international perspectives to his storytelling. Having worked globally as a Reuters correspondent and communications expert, his novels reflect a deep understanding of global complexities and human dynamics.
Influenced by notable sci-fi figures like Adrian Tchaikovsky, Mary Robinette Kowal, Cixin Liu, and Andy Weir, Clift consistently explores how space colonization could profoundly reshape humanity.
In his debut, Born in Space, Clift examined life for the first humans born off-Earth, raising intriguing questions about identity, adaptation, and the psychological impacts of living in space. Space Vault: The Seed Eclipse expands upon these ideas, depicting humanity at a pivotal crossroads, confronting advanced genetics and space exploration challenges.
Clift also envisions potential hybrid beings—combining human emotions with robotic strength—highlighting humanity’s resilience and adaptability in evolving environments. His imaginative narrative style continually captivates readers, blending visionary speculation with dramatic storytelling.
Space Vault: The Seed Eclipse promises excitement, deep character connections, and thrilling scenarios. Jeremy Clift’s new book is not only a compelling sci-fi adventure but also a thoughtful exploration of humanity’s potential future. We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Hi, Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
I’m Jeremy Clift, a science fiction author, former journalist, and book publisher, based in Virginia.
A former non-fiction Publisher, I am a communications consultant and writing coach. I’m a graduate of the London School of Economics and the George Washington University, and I’ve lived in a variety of major cities around the world as a Reuters correspondent.
Please tell us about your books.
My inaugural novel, Born in Space, delved into the life of Teagan Ward, a teenager who, after donating her eggs aboard a rotating space habitat, becomes entangled in a battle over seven artificially conceived infants. The story explores themes of motherhood, identity, and humanity’s expansion into space. The just published sequel, Space Vault: The Seed Eclipse, continues this narrative, focusing on corporate dominance, the ethical implications of space colonization, and the future of human freedom.
“Space Vault: The Seed Eclipse” is the second part of my Sci-fi Galaxy series about the colonization of space through habitats and the exploitation of celestial bodies, including asteroids and the moon.
Please tell us about your journey.
My career began in journalism, reporting for Reuters and later serving as a non-fiction publisher at an international organization. Over time, I transitioned into fiction writing, channeling my experiences and interests into speculative narratives about space and humanity’s future. A fan of Adrian Tchaikovsky, Mary Robinette Kowal, Cixin Liu, and Andy Weir, I am keenly interested in how space exploration and artificial intelligence will change humanity over the next 200 years.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Attending writers’ conferences like 20BooksTo50K provided invaluable insights into self-publishing and the importance of writing a series. Additionally, my background in journalism honed my research skills, allowing me to build believable and compelling sci-fi worlds.
Any message for our readers?
I hope my stories inspire readers to ponder the ethical and emotional dimensions of humanity’s venture into space. As we stand on the cusp of becoming an interplanetary species, it’s crucial to reflect on what it means to be human and how our choices shape our destiny.
Thank you so much, Jeremy, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
