We had the pleasure of interviewing Labreeze, a.k.a. Yassine. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
Hi Labreeze, Great to have you with us today! Please share with our readers about yourself.
Hi, I was born and raised in Marrakech, Morocco. I started as a beat maker, and now I make whole songs. From the beat to the recording to mixing the vocals, I personally do the whole process. I leave the mastering to the experts in that matter. I learned everything myself, watching tutorials on YouTube and reading posts on Reddit. I’m pretty sure I’ll thank these guys if I ever win a Grammy.
Please tell us more about your journey.
Like many Moroccans, I grew up listening to a diverse range of musical genres. From 50 Cent to David Guetta, I didn’t really care as long as it made me feel something. I started making EDM beats playing with Fruity Loops when I was like 13. I wasn’t serious about it at all. When I finished High School, I went into a challenging academic journey, and I simply quit thinking about making music for about four years. Then, all of a sudden, as I was completing an internship at an investment fund, I began writing raps while at my desk, and I made beats as soon as I got home from work. And it has been all about music ever since.
Please tell us about your record label, Cloud7even Records.
My record label is called Cloud7even Records. I am looking forward to developing my brand name around the « Cloud7even » brand. We have a lot of very surprising and unexpected projects in the making.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I’m just starting out, so it’s very difficult to speak my mind on success. What I know is that I did cover more ground than a lot of people that are trying to make it in music. I dedicated all my energy and resources for about two years before ever getting any kind of gratification. So I would like to say to anybody who’s trying to get into the music business or any kind of business that they should be absolutely sure, beyond any doubt, about the things that they pursue. Because one thing is for sure, nothing good ever comes easy. And more specifically for the artists and musicians out there, just make good music, and all the rest will follow.
