Pastor Ky Cunningham’s ‘I Was Used to Being Used’ Series Offer a Faith Based Roadmap for Healing and Freedom

Healing often begins when a person finds the courage to examine what has been hidden beneath familiar habits, painful relationships, and deeply rooted beliefs. The two-book I Was Used to Being Used series creates a faith-centered space for that examination.

Pastor Ky Cunningham draws upon personal transformation, ministry experience, and biblical principles to support readers seeking freedom from trauma-related cycles. With a detailed manual and an interactive companion workbook, the series moves from spiritual understanding to purposeful application.

Recognizing the Lasting Influence of Trauma

The first volume, I Was Used to Being Used: Christian Spiritual Warfare Manual for Breaking Generational Curses, Overcoming Abuse, Inner Healing, and Defeating the Enemy, addresses the connection between emotional wounds and spiritual conflict.

Experiences such as childhood trauma, abuse, rejection, and exploitation can influence how people view themselves. Those experiences may also affect the relationships they accept, the decisions they make, and the expectations they carry into the future. Over time, unhealthy behavior can become so familiar that its origin is difficult to recognize.

Pastor Ky Cunningham helps readers identify these patterns and explore the wounds beneath them. The book explains how trauma may be used to reinforce shame, fear, self-doubt, and emotional dependency. Readers are encouraged to consider where destructive cycles began and how those cycles have affected their spiritual lives.

Several topics receive focused attention, including generational curses, ungodly soul ties, demonic strongholds, and the spiritual impact of negative speech. Pastor Ky Cunningham provides a step-by-step framework for confronting these areas through prayer, biblical understanding, and personal reflection.

The manual also emphasizes identity in Christ. Trauma can distort a person’s understanding of worth and purpose, especially when painful experiences remain unaddressed. Through the book’s teachings, readers are invited to separate their identity from what happened to them and begin viewing their lives through God’s promises.

This approach gives the manual a compassionate quality. Its message comes from experience, giving readers the reassurance that healing can involve a gradual process while still leading toward meaningful freedom.

Building a Personal Plan for Spiritual Restoration

The second volume, I Was Used to Being Used: The Companion Workbook for Dismantling Strongholds, Healing Soul Wounds, and Defeating the Enemy, transforms the principles of the manual into guided action.

The workbook includes targeted prompts that help readers explore memories, beliefs, relationships, and behavioral patterns. These assignments encourage them to identify hidden soul wounds and understand how earlier experiences may still influence their daily lives.

Focused prayer sections offer support for addressing specific spiritual concerns. Readers can work through prayers related to generational patterns, toxic emotional connections, negative declarations, and long-standing strongholds. The written format also provides room to document discoveries and create a personal record of progress.

Each workbook section connects with ideas presented in the manual. Readers can learn about a spiritual principle in Book 1 and then complete the corresponding exercises in Book 2. This structure makes the series suitable for steady individual study and thoughtful reflection.

Pastor Ky Cunningham uses the workbook to encourage active participation in the healing process. Readers are guided to examine what they believe about themselves, recognize beliefs formed through pain, and reinforce an identity grounded in Christ. The assignments give them practical ways to apply spiritual lessons beyond the page.
