‘Fatal Instant: The Lies Have Begun’ Shows Deivy Garrido’s Gift for Turning Vulnerability Into Strength

For Adam Crow, an ordinary day is something precious. His severe heart condition means that every plan, conversation, and relationship exists beside the possibility that his life could end without warning.

Fatal Instant: The Lies Have Begun by Deivy Garrido follows a young man caught between medical uncertainty and a growing web of hidden truths. As romance enters his life, Adam discovers that opening his heart can be as frightening as the condition threatening it.

The Future Is Never Guaranteed

Adam tries to maintain a familiar routine in Seattle. He attends classes, takes his medication, and manages the expectations of those around him. Each part of his schedule reflects an effort to create stability, even when his body provides little reassurance.

Living with a serious heart condition has shaped the way Adam views the world. Other young people may have the freedom to plan years ahead, while he must consider how quickly everything could change. This reality creates a sense of urgency that follows him throughout the novel.

His health is only one part of the uncertainty. Family secrets begin to trouble him, and the explanations offered by the people closest to him feel increasingly incomplete. Adam senses that important details about his past have been concealed. Every discovery leads to another question.

Deivy allows these mysteries to build alongside Adam’s personal fears. The suspense grows through private conversations, uneasy memories, and information revealed at carefully chosen moments. Readers are encouraged to consider how love can survive when honesty has already started to disappear.

Alice, Janet, and the Risks of Connection

The arrival of Alice brings Adam face to face with a part of his history that still carries emotional force. She represents memories, unresolved questions, and experiences that may contain clues to the truth he has been seeking.

Then there is Janet Carristong.

Janet is confident, untamable, and willing to challenge Adam when others might treat him with caution. Her strong personality makes her difficult to ignore, while the emotional scars beneath her guarded exterior give her a vulnerability that gradually becomes visible.

Their connection begins changing Adam’s understanding of what his life could contain. Janet gives him the opportunity to experience affection, excitement, and companionship during a period dominated by medical fears. She also requires him to become emotionally honest.

Trust asks a great deal from both characters. Adam must reveal the fears attached to his condition, and Janet must decide how much of her own pain she is ready to share. As they grow closer, love becomes connected to difficult choices and consequences neither of them can fully control.

The romance carries warmth and intensity, while the thriller elements create an underlying sense of danger. Betrayal may come from an unexpected direction. A promise may conceal another motive. Even an apparent opportunity could lead Adam closer to a truth capable of shattering his world.

Friendship, Loyalty, and the Value of Now

Although Adam and Janet’s relationship provides the emotional center of the novel, Fatal Instant also gives meaningful attention to friendship and camaraderie. The people who remain present during painful moments can influence how someone responds to fear, illness, and uncertainty.

The characters have recognizable weaknesses. They become afraid, conceal information, and make decisions shaped by emotion. Their imperfections allow readers to understand their struggles, even when their actions create further complications.

Through Adam’s circumstances, Deivy examines the importance of appreciating life as it unfolds. A shared conversation or an honest confession can carry unusual significance for someone who understands that time is fragile.

The story also considers how relationships influence personal transformation. Adam’s illness may limit certain parts of his life, yet his connections encourage him to explore feelings and possibilities he once kept at a distance. Love and friendship provide reasons to become more open, more courageous, and more present.

We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.

I’m Deivy Garrido, a Venezuelan-Argentine accountant and writer. My literary journey began after I went viral on Twitter in 2013. In 2014, I started developing Muerte Súbita. Its first installment, Fatal Instant, tells the story of Adam Crow, a man facing a heart condition while discovering love with Janet Carristong, an untamable woman who changes his life.

Please tell us about your journey.

My journey is also a story of resilience and migration. Leaving Venezuela and building a new life in Argentina exposed me to different realities, challenges, and experiences that became sources of literary inspiration. These experiences helped shape the Fatal Instant saga, where emotions, human relationships, and the strength to keep moving forward play a central role.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

Twitter played a key role in introducing my work to readers. In 2015, I shared a couple of chapters of Fatal Instant there and connected with people who became interested in the story. Social media allowed me to share my writing directly, build a community, and discover that a story can find its readers when you dare to put it out into the world.

Any message for our readers.

I would love for readers to give Adam Crow’s story a chance. I invite them to discover an adventure filled with genuine friendship, loyalty, and camaraderie, featuring human, imperfect characters who evoke real emotions. I hope they find something in these pages that moves them and stays with them long after they finish reading.

Thank you so much, Deivy, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
