The Research and Passion Behind the Story

Erik Pontus Weman Tell spent years exploring Norse history and mythology before the series fully took shape. His fascination intensified after researching the Curmsun Disc and the historical figure Harald Bluetooth, eventually leading him toward the extensive writings of Swedish scholar and author Viktor Rydberg.

Rydberg’s 1887 fantasy epic became a major inspiration for the modern reinterpretation created by Beskow and Weman Tell. Rather than simply retelling old myths, the authors reshape them into a fresh literary experience that still honors the spirit of the original legends.

Weman Tell’s professional background also adds an unexpected layer to the project. Holding both a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Laws, he spent ten years working as Chief Financial Officer for Svenska Bio, one of Sweden’s major cinema chains. Alongside his business career, he remained heavily involved in sports through coaching and leadership roles within Swedish fencing and the Swedish Multisport Federation.

Camilla Beskow contributes a complementary creative perspective. Growing up surrounded by literature and storytelling, she developed a vivid imagination from an early age. Childhood adventures through forests and evenings spent with books eventually inspired her to pursue writing professionally.

Her early focus on screenwriting and visual storytelling shaped the cinematic atmosphere that runs throughout the novel. After founding her own company in 2016, Beskow worked across creative fields including television projects, ghostwriting, translations, and transcriptions. As her collaboration with Weman Tell developed, she became deeply immersed in Norse mythology and discovered fascinating links to her own literary family heritage through connections to celebrated Swedish authors Elsa Beskow and Elisabeth Beskow.
