The Earth presented in Atma Avatar has endured centuries of destruction. Monstrous beings called the Fallen appeared across the world without warning, emerging in overwhelming numbers and devastating major population centres. Their forms resemble demons, corrupted animals, and terrifying creatures once found only in myths.
Conventional weapons offered limited protection against them. Within a relatively short period, the Fallen eliminated more than half of the global population and gained control of large areas across Europe, Africa, and America. Humanity’s place in the world changed permanently.
Survivors eventually moved into domed settlements known as Colonies. Reinforced by magic, these communities became protected pockets of civilisation in a world ruled by constant danger. People inside the Colonies still attend school, grow food, use electricity, watch recovered films, and build relationships. Every part of that routine exists beneath the shadow of what waits outside.
More than three hundred years have passed since the Colonies were established. Some have grown stronger, while others have fallen. The ongoing struggle has created a society in which military service carries enormous importance, particularly for people capable of summoning Atma Avatars.
These individuals, known as Atma users, possess a power that once appeared throughout ancient history. Shamans, spiritual leaders, and other mysterious figures were believed to summon entities through an inner energy. The ability later disappeared, causing those accounts to fade into legend. It suddenly returned during the modern era when a man facing a deadly road accident summoned a winged humanoid being that saved his life.
After similar incidents occurred around the world, governments recognised the return of this extraordinary ability. The summoned entities received the name Atma Avatars because they emerge from the souls of their users.
A Soldier’s Journey Begins With Betrayal
Daniel lives in a Colony located somewhere in the former state of Colorado. He’s caring, emotionally sensitive, and uncertain about his own worth. His relationship with Pamela once gave him a sense of happiness that he had struggled to find elsewhere. Their friendship developed during childhood, eventually becoming a romantic relationship after Pamela revealed her feelings for him.
Daniel initially finds it difficult to believe that she could genuinely want him. He views Pamela as stronger, braver, and more impressive than he is. Her affection helps him feel valued. That feeling makes her eventual betrayal especially devastating.
The novel opens as Daniel attempts to escape his former life by travelling through the night on an enormous obsidian fox. Pamela intercepts him with an elven mage-like avatar, hoping to understand why he’s leaving. Daniel refuses to discuss the situation and demands that she move aside. Their avatars respond to the tension between them, transforming an emotional confrontation into a moment that could become physically dangerous.
Rather than remain in the Colony and face his pain, Daniel joins the army. His decision places him among the Atma users who defend humanity from the Fallen. He must now fight creatures capable of destroying entire communities while learning how to manage the emotional damage he carries.
Daniel’s Atma Avatar is a white humanoid fox dressed in samurai clothing and armour. Its appearance recalls a kitsune, giving his power a memorable connection to Japanese mythology. Since avatars are born from their users’ souls, the fox also represents something personal within Daniel. Its strength exists alongside his fear, loyalty, and capacity for growth. Everything changed after the truth behind the betrayal came to light. The once-bright fur turned into a rich obsidian black, while the avatar’s form became noticeably more savage and imposing. Its transformation serves as a powerful reflection of Daniel’s inner turmoil, symbolizing the pain, anger, and determination that now drive his path forward.
Through military life, Daniel encounters people who may help him recover. Trust will come slowly. Friendship, patience, and shared danger gradually give him reasons to open his heart again.

Sebastian writes fictional stories in his spare time. He considers himself a loner and shares that connecting with people has often been difficult. Growing up with ADHD and autism brought challenges, including experiences of isolation that influenced how he understands belonging.
The emotional foundation of Atma Avatar grew from a period when Sebastian felt betrayed by someone he believed had brought love into his life. He reshaped that experience through imagination, turning private heartbreak into the starting point for an apocalyptic fantasy.
