Hi, Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.

My name is George A. Thorn. I’m a regular Joe, cleaning by day and writing down crazy stories by night. I’m an avid history reader, movie buff, and Halloween lover (Being born on the day helps 😉) 

Please tell us about your book. 

Black Hearts Be Damned is a fictional, alternative history take on how if piracy didn’t die out in the 1700’s and went on to colonise the Caribbean islands, to create a government that is as dysfunctional as it sounds. The book follows the great-grandson of the experiment, Sebastian Teach (Blackbeard’s great-grandson), as he is crowned the new captain of the islands. But there is foul play amongst his government that threatens to compromise his vision of a traditional pirate society. 

Please tell us about your journey.

I had floated around ideas and concepts all the time back in college but never got anything beyond ten pages. Finally, during the COVID-19 lockdowns, I released my first book in the spring of 2020. It wasn’t perfect, and with every release since, I’ve managed to learn new things along the way. 

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

I make sure to look back on my releases and review what needed changing or what I could’ve done in the time before release. I was always trigger-happy to get my book out. Black Hearts Be Damned is one where I think lots more went right than wrong.
