Enter the Supernatural Adventure of Crystal Raven
Allan Lacoursiere’s Crystal Raven plunges readers straight into a shadowy, supernatural realm beneath the familiar streets of New York City. If you’re fascinated by vampires, secret societies, hidden wars, and the fate of humanity dangling by a thread, this is your next must-read.
Meet the Hero: Jean-Claude Beauceur
Jean-Claude Beauceur is anything but ordinary. Monk, kindergarten teacher, basketball coach—and part-time demon hunter—his life balances precariously between mundane tasks and extraordinary responsibilities. The balance shifts dramatically when he finds an unconscious girl lying abandoned on a bustling New York sidewalk.
This discovery isn’t random; it’s explosive. Jean-Claude suspects she’s connected to an ancient prophecy: she could either be humanity’s savior, the long-awaited Soul Catcher, or a devastating weapon crafted to destroy the Brotherhood—warriors protecting humanity from dark supernatural forces. Jean-Claude’s quest for the truth could ignite war, unleashing chaos onto an unsuspecting world.
Readers applaud how Lacoursiere combines the ancient legends of angels, vampires, and demons into a narrative that feels fresh, exciting, and incredibly cohesive. This is not your typical supernatural tale; it’s a masterful blend of dark fantasy, folklore, and suspense.
A Cast That Captivates
Crystal Raven features an unforgettable ensemble. Jean-Claude, with his bravery and intellect, instantly draws readers into his corner. The mysterious girl at the heart of the crisis raises endless questions, maintaining suspense until the very end.
Reviewers consistently note how each character comes alive through Lacoursiere’s meticulous attention to detail. Whether it’s the heroes, the enigmatic villains, or those caught in-between, everyone is vividly portrayed. Characters aren’t just well-developed—they’re intriguing, flawed, heroic, and genuinely relatable. Jenna Gentry notably praises this dynamic, celebrating how effortlessly Lacoursiere creates engaging personalities who enrich every twist and turn.
A Collision of Ancient Evil and Modern Times
The stakes are sky-high in Crystal Raven. Beneath the vibrant metropolis of New York lurks an ancient army of vampires, poised to resurface after centuries. Long ago, a single papal decision ignited a relentless conflict between the Church and Vampyres, leading humanity to the brink of annihilation. History threatens to repeat itself.
Only the Brotherhood stands against this growing darkness. This ancient order of Vampyre Hunters tirelessly works to prevent a catastrophic resurgence. Their mission depends heavily on finding the prophesied child, but they’re not alone in their quest. The vampires seek her too, determined to plunge the world into eternal darkness.
The narrative effortlessly moves from past calamities to the present-day crisis, keeping the suspense tightly wound. Readers like jnkdiosa23 emphasize how the storytelling conjures vivid, movie-like imagery that leaves an indelible mark.

We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
I first started writing when I was sixteen, hammering away in the basement on an ancient Underwood typewriter until my hands were swollen. My first full novel soon hit 1200 pages. It was soon to become the Dwarf King series.
I have continued to write for the last forty years, completing more than thirty novels. Along with my new work, I have begun to resurrect some of those early novels. I am now also working with young authors at John Paul II Catholic Secondary School here in London, Ontario. Our group is called Pens of John Paul II, and this year, I helped the kids complete two 90.000 word novels. It was a pleasure to work with these nine young writers, and I hope to continue to work with this program in the years to come.
My whole life has been geared towards writing. I read a quote from Hemingway about an author needing life experiences, and several other major authors that I had met told me to write what I know. So, at eighteen, before I even finished high school, I ran off to join the Navy. Everyone knows the cliche about joining the Navy and seeing the world. Maybe I should have chosen a better navy. I had more ships in my bathtub as a kid than the Canadian Navy at the time.
I lived my life with the philosophy that I would try anything twice. (No one needs to jump from an airplane three times to figure out hitting the ground with your face hurts.) Over the years, I have traveled extensively, mostly in North America, met thousands of people from dozens of countries, and worked in dozens of industries.
So here I am, having spent the last forty-five years writing and living life, and I have now set out on a new adventure as a professional writer. Hope you enjoy it.
Please tell us about your Book.
Crystal Raven is the first book in a five-book dark fantasy series. It has been described by readers as nothing like any other supernatural fiction I have ever read. The plot was very well constructed. The characters are some of the most unique and interesting cast ever introduced in any story. It relies on older legends of demons, angels, and vampires, and borrows from folklore from around the world. This is a character-driven narrative that takes you into a world where secret societies protect the world from a three-sided war between demons, vampires, and humans.
Please tell us about your journey.
I have been writing since I was sixteen, and I have enjoyed sharing the stories and lives of the characters in each of my books. There is a joy in creating, whether that is a novel, artwork, or music, that must be experienced to be understood.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I write, and I read constantly. I try to read a variety of authors and genres, whether fiction or nonfiction. As with any other discipline, practice makes it proficient.
Any message for our readers
While it is easy to get caught up in the lives of characters like Jean-Claude and Crystal Raven, please do not assault the author.
Thank you so much, Allan, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
