“Break More” by MadTragic: An 18-Minute Journey Through Alt-Rap Pop Mastery

MadTragic

In the ever-evolving landscape of music, artists often undergo transformations that are not only a testament to their versatility but also to their growth. One such artist is Zach, whose musical journey from the heavy riffs of extreme metal to the eclectic beats of alt rap pop under the moniker MadTragic is nothing short of fascinating. With a career spanning over a decade, Zach has continuously pushed the boundaries of genre, culminating in his latest project, MadTragic, which seeks to infuse pop music with depth and raise awareness for mental health.

The Evolution of an Artist

Zach’s foray into the music industry was marked by his role as the frontman for extreme metal bands Building the Architect and Monogamizer. The intensity and aggression of metal allowed Zach to explore the raw emotions and power of music. However, life’s ever-changing tides led him down a different path. The arrival of fatherhood marked a significant shift in Zach’s musical direction. Leaving the metal scene to raise a child, he ventured into the realm of singer-songwriter under the alias Casual Ammo. This period was characterized by introspection and a more melodic exploration of music.

The evolution didn’t stop there. As Zach delved deeper into his craft, Casual Ammo morphed into MadTragic, a project that marries the elements of alt rap and pop with an unconventional twist. MadTragic is Zach’s canvas for experimentation, where he blends genres to create something that is both avant-garde and accessible. This project is a bold attempt to tackle the often stigmatized issues of mental health through music, providing both a platform for discussion and a source of comfort for those who struggle.

Breaking More Than Just Boundaries

The latest single from MadTragic, “Break More,” stands as a testament to Zach’s unbridled creativity and willingness to defy convention. Describing it as an 18-minute long freestyle might suggest a venture into pretentiousness, but Zach assures it’s anything but. The track is an exhilarating journey through improvisation, backed by a killer beat that, just like the freestyle, spans 18 minutes. “Break More” is not just a song; it’s an experience, a testament to Zach’s improvisational skills, and his audacity to leave the beat uncut in its original form. This approach to music-making reflects a larger philosophy of MadTragic: to embrace the raw, the unedited, and the real.

A Vision for the Future

As MadTragic, Zach is not only redefining his musical identity but also setting his sights on larger goals. With the second album slated for release in June 2024, Zach is poised to further explore the synergies between different musical styles while continuing to champion the cause of mental health awareness. His music serves as a bridge, connecting listeners from various backgrounds and experiences, fostering a community where open discussions about mental health are encouraged and normalized.

MadTragic is more than just a musical project; it’s a movement. By intertwining the infectious rhythms of pop with the raw expressiveness of alt rap, Zach creates a soundscape that is both captivating and thought-provoking. Through his music, he invites listeners to be part of a journey that transcends the auditory experience to touch on deeper societal issues.

Joining the MadTragic Family

For those who have followed Zach from his metal roots to the eclectic realms of MadTragic, the evolution has been both surprising and inspiring. New listeners, too, find themselves drawn to the authenticity and boldness of his music. MadTragic is not just for fans of a particular genre but for anyone who appreciates music that dares to be different and speaks to the soul.

As Zach continues to navigate the complexities of life and music, MadTragic stands as a beacon for originality, resilience, and hope. Whether you’re in it for the beats, the lyrics, or the message, MadTragic promises a place where you can escape the mundane, reflect on the profound, and perhaps, break a little more free from the chains that bind us.

We had the pleasure of interviewing the Music Artist. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Hi, Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.

I am Zach; I’ve been producing music for about ten years now but only doing the weird alt-rap pop stuff for the last two as MadTragic. Previously, I was in the Extreme Metal scene as the frontman for Building the Architect and Monogamizer. After leaving metal to raise a child, I did singer-songwriter stuff as Casual Ammo, which eventually evolved into MadTragic.

MadTragic is my attempt to make pop music with depth and to raise awareness for mental health.

Please tell us about your latest single

My latest single is Break More, which is a lot less pretentious than what I’m about to describe it as… Yes, it’s an 18-minute-long freestyle, but hey. It’s a lot of fun and I just couldn’t bring myself to edit it down. The beat is also killer, and it was already 18 minutes since I was done building it, so I used it as a sort of test for my improv skills. Most of the beats I make are long like this, and I end up cutting them down drastically before settling on a mix for vocals. Album number 2 coming in June 2024

What strategies contributed to your success?

Success? uhhh that’s yet to be determined because i’m not sure if I’ll ever consider any of my ventures as fully explored or completed. But, to answer your question less modestly, the key to my success is my friend’s unwavering confidence in me and their ability to keep me going even during those moments when I feel like nothing I do is worth anyone’s time.

Any special message for our readers?

No matter what anyone says, no matter what state the world you inhabit is in, you matter, and you can change the fibers of your universe to sew your life the way you want.

Thank you so much, Zach, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
