From Jack Nicholson to Jennifer Aniston: Roy Salvatore Constantino’s ‘Autograph 2’ Chronicles Brooklyn’s Golden Era

A television studio, a museum visit or a quick stop at a neighborhood shop could become the setting for a story worth retelling. In Autograph 2, Roy Salvatore Constantino revisits the people and places that shaped his years as a young fan in 1990s New York. The result is a memoir about celebrity encounters, family ties and the keepsakes that help preserve a life’s vivid moments.

A City Full of Possibilities

Roy’s memories unfold across Brooklyn and other familiar New York settings. The city gives each encounter its own character: a video store becomes the scene of a meeting with The Undertaker, while a film set in Bay Ridge brings Jack Nicholson into view. A visit to the American Museum of Natural History and an audience seat at The Jon Stewart Show offer other glimpses of a young fan moving through a city rich with cultural life.

The story involving The Undertaker also features Roy’s grandmother, whose confident presence adds a warm dose of humor. She was five feet tall, while the wrestling superstar stood at an imposing 300 pounds. Roy remembers her holding her own in the moment, making the encounter as much a family anecdote as a celebrity story.

Other chapters recall meetings with Jennifer Aniston, Warren Moon, Neil deGrasse Tyson and Yasmine Bleeth. The names span television, film, sports and science, reflecting the range of Roy’s interests and the many corners of public life he encountered. Each recollection offers a brief look at a person who was famous to the public and present, for a moment, in Roy’s everyday world.

The Collector Behind the Stories

Roy’s interest in autographs began when he was young. His grandfather’s example helped shape the hobby, and over time, collecting signatures became a way to remember the people he met. The practice called for patience and awareness. Roy had to notice who was nearby, find the right moment and be ready when an opportunity appeared.

The memoir draws on that spirit of curiosity. Roy describes the anticipation surrounding television tapings and the activity of film sets, alongside the more casual possibility of running into someone while out in the city. His memories offer a portrait of celebrity culture before smartphones made photographs and updates instant. Encounters often depended on timing, persistence and being in the right place.

Scanned autographs and personal photographs accompany the stories, lending the book the feel of a carefully kept collection. These visuals connect readers with the tangible objects Roy saved and the people he encountered. They also help convey how a signature can carry a larger memory: the place, the conversation and the excitement of a day that turned out differently than expected.

Family remains part of that record. Roy’s grandmother features in one of the collection’s most colorful stories, and his grandfather’s influence runs through the hobby itself. Their presence gives the memoir a personal thread that links the celebrity meetings to Roy’s life beyond them.

A New Volume in the Autograph Series

As the second book in the series, Autograph 2 continues a project that began with Autograph. The new volume gathers further memories from Roy’s youth and his years of celebrity encounters. Readers who know the first book can return to the same personal world, while newcomers can enjoy these stories on their own.

Fans of pop culture may recognize many of the names. Readers who enjoy memoirs may connect with Roy’s perspective as a young New Yorker learning the city and following a passion. The collection’s appeal comes from the combination of recognizable figures and grounded details: a neighborhood store, a family member’s quick wit or the atmosphere of a studio audience.

The book is available in Kindle, hardcover and paperback editions. Its photographs, autographs and personal recollections make it a fitting choice for readers who enjoy celebrity memorabilia and for anyone who likes stories about the unexpected moments people carry with them.
