Mesmerizing and Profound: Secret Garden Volume 4 by Chaiitanya Bulusu Is Music That Moves the Spirit

On May 20, 2025, Chaiitanya Bulusu—known to the music world as Layer Music Project (Chatty)—dropped “Secret Garden Volume 4”, an album that immerses listeners in intricate soundscapes designed to transport them to places unknown. This 17-track album, clocking in at 55 minutes and 47 seconds, showcases Chatty’s mastery of both the technical and artistic sides of music. Blending his engineering background with a passion for music, he creates compositions that are vivid experiences that expand the boundaries of traditional electronic music.

A Synesthetic Symphony: Where Sound and Color Meet

At the core of Layer Music Project’s creative process is Chatty’s synesthesia—the rare ability to see sound as color. This phenomenon profoundly influences his approach to music production, transforming sound into visual experiences. For Chatty, each note carries a visual color, each melody a different texture. This connection between the auditory and the visual is central to the development of “Volume 4”, offering listeners a new way to experience sound.

The idea of transforming sound into visuals might seem abstract, but Chatty’s mastery of synesthesia gives his music a uniquely immersive quality. The artist himself describes the process as being deeply personal and intuitive. For him, music creation is about translating his visual world into auditory sensations that resonate on a universal level.

The Ongoing Story: A Journey Through Time and Sound

As with every release in the Secret Garden series, Volume 4 continues Chatty’s exploration of an unfolding narrative. This installment focuses on the concept of a “lost manuscript,” a metaphorical device that ties together the tracks in a cohesive, flowing journey. While the album is primarily instrumental, it tells a story through atmosphere, progression, and seamless transitions between tracks. There’s a constant ebb and flow, one that makes the album feel like a journey through time, space, and sound.

“Volume 4” invites you into a world where ancient rituals meet modern electronic music,” It’s about experiencing a story, a journey where each track feels like part of a larger whole.” The transitions between tracks are as important as the tracks themselves, and the album encourages deep listening, asking the audience to stay present throughout its unfolding narrative.

Exploring Soundscapes: A Global Fusion of Music Traditions

The hallmark of Secret Garden Volume 4 is its fusion of diverse musical traditions. Chatty draws inspiration from a wide array of sources, including Gregorian chants, Indian mantras, and cinematic soundscapes. This unique blend of ancient and modern, Eastern and Western influences, is what sets Layer Music Project apart from other electronic music acts.

Tracks like “Sacred Chant of the Moon” and “Whispers in the Temple” incorporate elements from both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions, blending deep synth drones with chants and tribal drums. The result is a harmonious collision of influences, where atmospheric sounds from across the globe converge into one cohesive sound. Chatty’s expert use of various textures—from the hypnotic tabla rhythms of “Dance of the Shadows” to the ambient flutes in “Mystic Caravan”—demonstrates his ability to create an immersive listening environment that spans both geography and time.

Each track is meticulously crafted to evoke a particular scene or emotion. In “Echoes of Atlantis,” the lost civilization’s haunting choirs are paired with oceanic synths, creating an ethereal atmosphere that feels both timeless and mysterious. Meanwhile, the track “Sanctum of Secrets” transports listeners to an ancient space where reverberating male vocals and sacred harp melodies linger in the air, adding a sense of spiritual depth to the album.

An Introspective Sonic Experience

While the album draws from external influences, it is also deeply introspective. Chatty’s music encourages personal reflection, inviting listeners to lose themselves in the ethereal textures he crafts. The spiritual elements embedded throughout the album bring a sense of quiet contemplation to the experience. Tracks like “The Alchemist’s Prayer” and “Dust of Divine Wrath” feature male monastic chants, guiding listeners through ritualistic soundscapes that invoke thoughts of devotion, ritual, and deep introspection.

“Volume 4” is a perfect blend of music and meditation, offering a sonic escape into realms of thought and imagination. For Chatty, the goal is to create more than just music—he wants to provide a space for listeners to explore their inner selves, to get lost in the narrative and atmosphere of the album. The spiritual undertones woven throughout the music enhance this sense of depth, offering more than just a surface-level listening experience.

From Dancefloors to Introspective Soundscapes: Chatty’s Evolution

Chatty’s journey from KRAZY ELECTRONS, a high-energy dance music project, to Layer Music Project—a more introspective, atmospheric exploration—shows his growth as both a musician and an artist. His early work was driven by love for groovy basslines and deep, high-energy rhythms, but over time, Chatty’s focus has shifted towards more reflective and atmospheric compositions. Volume 4 is the culmination of this evolution, reflecting a deepening understanding of his own creative voice.

The Secret Garden Experience: An Invitation to Explore

Secret Garden Volume 4 is more than just an album—it’s an invitation to immerse oneself in a world of sound and story. Whether you’re a fan of atmospheric electronic music or just looking for an album to lose yourself in, Chatty’s latest project offers a deeply immersive experience that is both emotionally resonant and sonically brilliant. As Layer Music Project, Chatty has created a space where music is experienced, felt, and seen.

We had the privilege of interviewing the Music Artist. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself.

Hello, this is Chaiitanya Bulusu, also known as Layer Music Project (Chatty).

Could you please tell us about your album, “Secret Garden Volume 4”?

The album “Secret Garden Volume 4.” represents a continued personal journey into immersive and evocative soundscapes, building upon the narrative threads and interconnectedness that define the “Secret Garden” series.

For me, creating “Secret Garden Volume 4” is about more than just composing music; it’s about crafting an experience. My synesthesia informs how I perceive sound, and this album is an attempt to translate those unique sensory impressions into a cohesive and transportive listening experience. The interconnectedness of the tracks is crucial, designed to guide you through an unfolding narrative with seamless transitions.

What Awaits in Volume 4:

This album delves deeper into the blend of the ethereal and the grounding that characterizes the “Secret Garden” aesthetic. Within it, you’ll discover:

Echoes of Ancient Worlds:

Expect to encounter sonic textures reminiscent of Gregorian and Indian chants, the haunting beauty of ethereal vocals, and the resonant depth of monastic-inspired harmonies, all woven into the fabric of modern electronic music.

A Global Fusion of Sounds: Drawing inspiration from diverse musical landscapes, including cinematic atmospheres, the richness of world music traditions, and the intricate beauty of classical forms, “Volume 4” merges electronic elements with sounds evoking ambient flutes, tribal rhythms, and even subtle hints of Eastern melodic and rhythmic patterns.

Immersive and Atmospheric Textures:

As someone deeply involved in the technical aspects of sound design, I’ve focused on creating intricate melodies, expansive sonic textures, and subtly propulsive rhythms. Expect to be enveloped by cavernous reverbs, echoing environments, and cinematic layers that aim to transport you to other realms.

Spiritual Undertones:

Woven throughout the album are often devotional themes and subtle mantra-like elements, adding a layer of introspective depth to the overarching sonic narrative. It’s designed to be both a listening experience and a form of sonic contemplation.

“Secret Garden Volume 4” is an invitation to lose yourself in sound, to embark on a journey through time and atmosphere where evocative soundscapes unveil their secrets. It’s a deeply personal expression.

“Volume 4” is a vital continuation of the “Secret Garden” series. Each album builds on a singular narrative…(in this case, it’s a “lost manuscript” concept), offering deeper dives into mystical themes. My goal is “storytelling without words” (of course, there are words that I have used in a few tracks, but it doesn’t follow ABABCAB or any other chorus or verse pattern). Using atmosphere and seamless continuity, I convey narrative and emotion, creating a cinematic feel throughout. It’s an invitation into an ongoing saga.

While the series shares kinship with atmospheric electronic traditions, “Volume 4″ carries my distinct signature. A key element is the seamless integration of Carnatic vocal influences within the electronic framework. This fusion sets Layer Music Project apart in the ambient/world electronic genre. Besides, every album mentions the signature ” You are listening to Layer Music project and this is Secret Garden Volume X.”

My background, blending engineering with music, means meticulous attention to sound design. Every texture, rhythm, and atmospheric layer is sculpted with precision for an immersive listening experience. It’s about achieving both emotional depth and technical excellence.

The vibe of “Secret Garden Volume 4” is an immersive journey through time. Imagine exploring ancient temples or hidden crypts. The music guides an external adventure or internal contemplation. It’s designed for active listening, inviting discovery.

Please tell us about your Creative Process.

My synesthesia…literally seeing sound…is fundamental to my creative process. This isn’t just metaphorical; it directly influences how I layer instruments and sculpt frequencies. For “Volume 4,” specific colors and visual textures guided the arrangements, offering a unique, unseen dimension to the music. This distinct sensory input makes my approach stand out.

Please tell us about your journey.

My journey from “KRAZY ELECTRONS” (high-energy dance) to Layer Music Project (introspective atmosphere) highlights my versatility. Collaborations with Indian and international artists also continually push me to explore new musical territories.

Thank you so much, Chaitanya, for taking the time to speak with us! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
