Why Every Child Needs The Kelly Flowers’ ‘The Adventures of the 3Architeers’ on Their Bookshelf

The Adventures of the 3Architeers introduces readers to three remarkable girls—Naumika, Sydney, and Jennifer—who cross paths at an architecture camp. From day one, it is clear they share a passion for design, creativity, and invention. Before long, they discover they have something else in common: each possesses a special superpower that enhances her architectural instincts. Naumika’s kindness helmet glows to guide her in bringing people together, Sydney’s safety glasses project imaginative building plans, and Jennifer’s mini wrist tablet allows her to sketch and bring ideas to life instantly. Their discoveries form the backbone of a friendship based on collaboration and the joy of designing solutions that make a positive impact.

Their First Big Mission

The Adventures of the 3Architeers 2

When the trio receives a mysterious pink-embossed invitation from the Architeer Headquarters—a secret group focused on finding creative design fixes for kids—they are both excited and intrigued. The headquarters wastes no time in assigning them a critical first task: help four boys who cannot agree on how to construct their dream treehouse. The 3Architeers leap into action, pooling their expertise to devise a solid plan.

Naumika’s glowing helmet sparks compassion, leading everyone to listen to one another’s ideas. Sydney’s visionary safety glasses project different design possibilities, guiding them through multiple plans. Meanwhile, Jennifer uses her versatile wrist tablet to capture and refine all the suggestions, refining the design before anyone picks up a single piece of wood. By encouraging the boys to consider each other’s viewpoints, the girls show them how to meld their visions into one cohesive blueprint. In the process, the 3Architeers reveal the true power of teamwork and mutual respect.

With the boys finally working together and building the structure they have longed for, the 3Architeers present the finished floor plan, complete with their emblem as a seal of approval. Satisfied with the result, they depart for their next thrilling mission, reminded once again of their responsibility to spread harmony and ingenuity wherever they go.

Inspiration Behind the Story

The idea for The Adventures of the 3Architeers was brought to life by author The Kelly Flowers, in collaboration with three talented students: Sydney Miller (9th grade), Naumika Dantuluri (10th grade), and Jennifer Knoblauch (12th grade). Their goal was to create a story that inspires young readers to embrace architecture and creative problem-solving.

The inspiration for this book can be traced back to the Women Leading Technology (WLT) Architecture Program, launched in 2023 under the guidance of Lead Architect Kim Nickerson. This initiative is part of the WLT STEAAM Experience for Girls, where “STEAAM” stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Architecture, and Math. Architecture remains the standout element in this program, though each facet of STEAM intersects to make design concepts both feasible and fun.

Through hands-on experiences in constructing and designing playhouses, Sydney, Naumika, and Jennifer realized the boundless potential of architecture as a medium for expression. Eager to encourage other girls to explore this exciting field, they collaborated to shape a narrative that demonstrates how empathy, creativity, and strategic thinking are crucial in bringing blueprints off the page and into reality.
