Hi, Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do. 

My name is Phoenix Rokni. I’m a new author with a background as a soldier and a psychotherapist. After receiving an honorable discharge, I earned a master’s degree in counseling psychology and spent many years helping others through my private practice. Eventually, I reached a point where I knew it was time to hang up my counselor hat and pursue my greatest passion: bringing to life the fantasy world I had been creating for over twenty years. Everything I do now is in support of that dream.

Please tell us about your book. 

The Fall of Magic is the first book in a potentially expansive series that explores The Master’s Core, a sweeping epic of courage, sacrifice, and the timeless struggle between light and darkness. In this story, we meet Volir, a lone elf with a hidden past, who trains with the Knights of the Phoenix. His world bears deep scars from a bygone age and now faces a grave threat. A prince, consumed by corruption, is leading his sinister army across the land, leaving destruction in their wake. As everything he holds dear is threatened, Volir must make a choice—one that will echo throughout history and shape the fate of all.

Please tell us about your journey.

I had never written a book before this one, so I spent about a year learning the craft and organizing my thoughts. I wanted to tell a strong story without making too many of the big mistakes many first-time authors make. I hired a stellar editor and cover artist and put a lot of effort into creating something memorable.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

Time, patience, and perseverance. I dedicated most of my free time—and sometimes found time I didn’t think I had—to refine this novel until the manuscript truly felt right. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, and I couldn’t stop working until the characters, creatures, places, and magic all felt just right. I had a lot of support from those around me, who helped keep me grounded when I spent too much time immersed in the world I was creating. It was invaluable to have people who could ensure I kept my feet on the ground.
