The Brothers Behind the Band

Jaggar and Sebastian Jellots, the driving forces behind 5thSZN, have been passionate about music from a young age. Their early experiences attending concerts by iconic bands like Motley Crue, KISS, and the Jonas Brothers fueled their love for music. However, it was the influence of blink-182 during their teenage years that inspired them to start writing their own songs.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 became a pivotal period for the brothers. During this time, they were inspired by new releases from artists like Machine Gun Kelly and All Time Low, which motivated them to begin piecing together the music they had been working on for years. This creative surge led to the formation of 5thSZN and the eventual creation of ‘Glorified.’

The Impact of James Murray (JDSZNN)

A key addition to 5thSZN was the recruitment of drummer James Murray, also known as JDSZNN. His versatile talent and dynamic drumming have been crucial to the band’s live performances, bringing an added layer of energy and depth to their music. James’s contributions have been instrumental in shaping the sound of ‘Glorified‘ and enhancing the band’s overall performance.

Creating ‘Glorified‘: An Artistic Endeavor

The creation of ‘Glorified‘ was a labor of love for 5thSZN. Each song underwent a rigorous development process to ensure it met the band’s high standards. The collaboration between Jaggar, Sebastian, and James resulted in an album that is both cohesive and diverse, reflecting their individual strengths and collective creativity.

One of the highlights of the album, “karma,” exemplifies this dedication. The song’s evolution from its initial concept to the final version on the album is a testament to the band’s perseverance and artistic vision. It’s a track that encapsulates the essence of 5thSZN and their journey.

We had the privilege of interviewing band members of 5thSZN. Here are a few excerpts from the interview.

Hi, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about your latest album with our readers.

Hi, we’re 5thSZN from Pittsburgh, PA. Our latest album, Glorified, was released on June 28th. In preparation for this record, we released singles “i think i hate this“, “last forever,” & “hit it off“. Our band favorite on the record would have to be the song, karma. It’s a song we’ve been holding onto for years and has gone through so many different versions to get to the final copy on the record.

Please tell us about your journey.

We’re two brothers who have been huge fans of music throughout our entire lives, going to concerts ever since we were little kids and seeing bands like Motley Crue, KISS, & the Jonas Brothers; we’ve always had a strong passion for music. When we got into our teenage years, our favorite band of all time, blink-182, was what really inspired us to start writing songs and making music. Over the course of the pandemic in 2020, artists such as Machine Gun Kelly & All Time Low released new music that was very influential to us, and resulted in us finally starting to piece together the music we’d been writing for years. Along the way, we met our very talented drummer, James Murray (or JDSZNN), who is legitimately a jack of all trades. He has been a huge asset to our live performances, which adds a whole new life to the songs.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

Some strategies we take along the way is to always be patient, this isn’t gonna take off overnight it’s very unrealistic. Also, you have to be consistent. Another key thing we learned is to never take yourself so seriously. If you treat music like work then it will feel like work, it’s supposed to be fun.

Any message for our readers?

Our message for anyone reading is: If you’re interested in making music, go ahead and take the jump. People are going to make fun of you and say stuff, but just remember you have more passion and character in your pinky than those shallow idiots who try to bring you down. You never know if you don’t try.

Fantastic! So tell us, how can people find out more about you?

You can follow us on Instagram @5thSZNMusic & you can stream Glorified by 5thSZN on all platforms.

Thank you so much for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
