Today, we are interviewing Brady Bankston, owner, and founder of Popularis Construction Inc.

Popularis Construction Inc. is a design-build company proud to offer a comprehensive list of construction services to the people of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. This company reflects his true beliefs, and he runs his company on the ideals of passion, craftsmanship, and service. His goal is to continue to improve the general contracting industry and to give back to the surrounding community.

Please tell us something about yourself.

I have a wife, one son, and a healthy addiction to softball.

How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey.

I started out in construction, washing the paintbrushes my father would bring home from work. At $0.50 each, I wasn’t getting rich, but I was learning the value of money. I always loved business and the concept of business, so after a few years of working as a carpenter, I had an opportunity to start my construction company and jumped on it.

Who are your role models?

Growing up, I was surrounded by wonderful role models in my father. As I got older, I started looking up to several successful businessmen, who, although I have never met, had tremendous impacts on my life.

Grant Cardone and Warren Buffett, to name two.

What inspires you?

I would have to say I am inspired every day when I get to wake up and know if I fail, it’s on me, and if I succeed, it’s on me. There is something so surreal when you take responsibility for your destiny.

Please tell us about your company.

I am the founder and sole owner of Popularis Construction. We began as a small residential renovation company and have broken into Residential new construction, Commercial new construction, and commercial fit-outs.

What’s your most memorable experience?

Nothing can compare to the extreme pressure when I was first starting out. There was one point when I was 4 months behind on my mortgage, and I had 3 days to come up with my mortgage payment, or I would be 5 months behind and push into foreclosure. I was able to finish multiple projects and get payments sent on the last day. I made a promise to myself that day that I would not allow myself to lose everything again.

Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?

I have been on Facebook and Instagram for several years and have found that it has been an incredible way for future and past clients to check in on us.

What’s your greatest fear?

My greatest fear would have to be that I don’t reach the levels of success I am working for, and I don’t have the ability to reach my fellow humans.

Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?

If I had hired professionals to do all the small jobs and focused on running my business, I would be 3x further ahead at this point. Don’t try to do everything yourself because you can’t do everything well, nor do you want to.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

Reading. The best strategy any business owner or successful person can take is reading, self-education. Learn time management, learn self-control, and above all, have a blast doing whatever it is you do. Life is way to short to not enjoy 65% of your life.

What keeps you going when things get tough?

When things get tough, I literally just tell myself to suck it up, remind myself this is a test, and I mush pass to move to the next level. I also like to remind myself that every hard thing I have gone through to date has passed; therefore, what I am facing at that moment will also pass.

Any message for our readers.

My message and what I truly believe is that we all can be great, but its hard work. So hard that 99.9% of people quit or don’t even try. If you follow your passion, if you are honest with yourself and take time to listen to yourself, then and only then will you have the opportunity to succeed.
