We had the pleasure of interviewing Elytra, a music-making duo comprising of Lazar Majstorovic and Liam Segerpalm from Sweden with a sweet spot for 80’s inspired Pop/Synth-Pop music. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
Hi, Great to have you with us today! Please share with our readers about yourself.
We are Elytra, a music-making duo from Sweden consisting of two former 19-year-old classmates. We make pop music inspired from the classic 80’s sound, mixed with a modern synth-pop feel. Through our music, we aspire to reinforce the emotions of our listeners with relatable lyrics and a nostalgic feel from our sound. If you listen to our music, you will find that we take a lot of inspiration from the instrumentation of the 1980s, such as synthesizers, toms, and drum kits. At the same time, we seek to have our own unique sound, where we blend different genres into one.
Please tell us more about your journey.
Our journey started in the fall of 2021 when Lazar Majstorovic (producer) got his classmate Liam Segerpalm (producer, songwriter, and singer) to download Fl Studio. From there on, making beats and interchanging ideas became an enjoyable habit. We were both learning very quickly, thanks to each other and platforms such as Youtube. Due to our great chemistry and similar music taste, we found our own sound and image. Even though we are pretty new to the music-making industry, we feel like we are constantly evolving when it comes to the production quality of our songs.
Please tell us about your song, Hold On.
For a couple of months, we have been working on an upbeat pop track with a disco and synthwave sound, influenced by tracks like “Sacrifice” and “Take My Breath” from The Weeknd. The song is called “Hold On” and is a message to everybody who struggles and goes through hard times to hold on and push through the pain, which we think relates to everybody. “One more night, another day to face, another fight to fight” is sung by Liam Segerpalm in the chorus of the song, reinforcing the idea to fight for another day and hold on until the pain is over. The song will be released on all platforms on February 21st.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I wouldn’t call us successful just yet. We still have a long way to go. But if we were to give one tip, the most important one for us is to have fun and enjoy what one is doing. Without fun, it will be impossible to make something that resonates with people.

We do have a TikTok account @elytramusic where we try to upload as many videos as we can. We hope to interact and get to know our fans, as well as teasing future projects that we are working on. We also have an Instagram account @elytramusic where we go a little bit more in-depth into our lyrics and stories about our songs.
