We had the pleasure of interviewing Benjamin “Benji” Bordelon. a seasoned musician with twenty-plus years of experience in the music industry. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
Hi Benjamin, Great to have you with us today! Please share with our readers about yourself.
Hi, I write, record, and produce everything you hear when it comes to skinb0t. I personally perform all parts of the music (guitars, keys/synths, drums, programming, and vocals).
Please tell us more about your journey.
Well, I have over twenty years in the music industry and have been a part of several acts over the years. While playing with these other bands, I’ve had the honor of sharing the stage with national and international acts such as Korn, In This Moment, Soulfly, Prong, Static-X, Avatar, Orgy, Powerman5000, Dope, and many, many more.
Please share with our readers about your music projects.
The first official self-titled skinb0t release was released on March 22nd, 2023. It was released under my record label, KillChild Records. I spent about three months writing, recording, and producing the EP, and at that time, I pretty much spent each and every day in my own studio located north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania pounding it out. I had no specific direction while writing everything, but I knew that I wanted it to be a bit raw and not as overproduced as you see most acts doing these days. In fact, you’ll not find more than 12 to 16 tracks on any of the songs on the EP. I chose to cover/remake a song called The Wait, which was written and recorded by Killing Joke back in the early 1980s. That old goth/punk sound has just always been near and dear to me. I am in the midst of talking to a well-known videographer in New York, and we plan on starting production on a video for my song Floating. The video will be shot in Coney Island, NY, and will mostly be filmed in the water. The follow-up single to the EP is called ‘The Influence’ and is set for release on April 20th, 2023. I am really excited about this track, and I feel that it will be able to show the fans just how versatile I am.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I just fly and flow as I see fit. I like to be comfortable, and I choose not to starve while releasing music. If things hit, then great! If not, at least I can say that I’ve done all of this on my own.
