Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Debra Zachau, an Author, Speaker, and Tarot Card Reader.

Please tell us something about yourself.

I’m an independent psychic advisor who enjoys bringing together the challenges we face today with the spirit of the higher octaves to get answers and direction. I help people from around the world every day. I’ve enjoyed a sovereign business life and believe everyone has divine gifts they use daily in some way or another.

My talents and service are not only for private readings but providing an opportunity for those who want to learn how to develop and use their own intuitive gifts. Some want to learn to benefit themselves, family, and friends. In contrast, others look forward to serving others as professional intuitive advisors. Once the basics of the tarot are learned, the language from spirit can be adapted to mediumship (communicating with passed loved ones), animal communication, or search and rescue volunteer. I can help people understand the many different ways to serve and how to create their own unique voice within it.

How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey.

Early in life learned hairdressing but was fascinated by the psychic sciences. There was a metaphysical bookstore that opened close to my shop that taught every topic. I think I took every class they offered. As I was learning, I would talk to my clients about it, and some would join me. Long story short, I built a clientele that had my same interests, and we would practice and educate each other. So every single day I went to work and talked about a topic I loved! Imagine that! Philosophy, metaphysics, and the different personalities and personal stories that go along with being a hairdresser.

I left the salon and Seattle in 2003 for the sun of San Diego. Didn’t want to go back into traditional hairdressing, so worked through hospice to serve those who couldn’t leave home or care facility. I was thrilled to discover I was able to see people’s passed loved ones during my visit. Clients would appear to be talking to thin air, but I could see and hear a receptive soul conversing back. I would carry on long conversations with people only to learn when signing out of the facility that the person that just told me their life story couldn’t speak and, in fact, hadn’t spoken for years.

I taught metaphysics at the Philosophical Library in Escondido, CA, and many attended classes to develop their talents, and we started facilitating small psychic fairs to benefit the nonprofit.

Many of the people who attended my classes are enjoying the sole income as a professional psychic advisor. Either for private clients or through the very profitable psychic hotline work.

I do in-person message circles for small gatherings, and I speak in front of large crowds. I worked as entertainment for large corporate events when we were able to gather. Of late, like so many others, I’ve discovered the many benefits of Zoom. I have a large private clientele I speak to, as well as working on some top psychic hotlines. I do the card of the week video for a couple of these larger companies.

I have a tarot deck plus book being published through Schiffer due to come out next year, and in the meantime, I have produced an online beginning tarot course that will provide the foundation for talented expression.

And as a bonus, anyone who joins this course will get a special invitation to continue their education with a live practice session. It’s one thing to learn something new and quite another practicing to get good at it. I want to see people succeed.

A person must stay in the upper room of integrity and above the line of personal opinion to serve another well. To truly speak the insights of providence. My course and practice sessions will keep a person inside their intuition and not stray into their imaginations. It’s important to stay inside the proper lanes when counseling others.

What inspires you?

People who are sincerely good. I’m not kidding. Jimmy Carter is a sincerely good person who gets up every day to do good work, never having a bad thing to say, even when he’s tired. There was a client of mine that was always fully and sincerely available to people. She went out of her way to help others. I admire people who can keep their patience and not jump too quickly to conclusions about the actions or words of someone else. Leaving a sense of wonder, faith, and generously giving a person the benefit of the doubt. Not judging them by their bad day but applauding their best parts. This inspires me, and in fact, these are the role models I strive to be more like.

Please tell us more about what you do.

Grow-Your-Light-Logo

Grow your Light with Debra Zachau is a place a person can go to find out who they uniquely are. I can help with soul realignment, private readings, and of course, classes. I authored the book that goes with a new tarot deck. The deck is co-created, but the book is mine. It will be out next year sometime.

What’s your most memorable experience?

I was providing a healing session where my client was completely asleep. I saw the door of the candlelit room get foggy, and then people started coming in. A group of people dressed in clothes from different eras. Some looked like they came off a farm, some in suits and ladies wore dresses. The room couldn’t possibly hold this many people, I thought when the wall to my right turned foggy and gave way. All of these souls were my client’s lineage! Passed loved ones! A young boy, about 12, ran in and leaned against my client’s left arm and looked down on her face. He then looked up at me and said, “This is my little sister,”… I said in my mind, “I bet you are a good big brother,” he nodded then looked back down at her.

The men took off their hats, and the ladies bowed their heads in healing prayer for my client. The little boy stroked her arm with his left and patted her shoulder with his right. (After the session, I asked my client if she had an older brother, and she said, “One, but he was killed in a car accident when we were young. He was a few years older, and I was about 9 when it happened).

Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?

I have spent the last year and a half developing my video course and working online and have a Facebook page, Grow Your Light with Debra Zachau. And my Instagram account, which is IG @ debrazachau.

My course can be accessed at training.growyourlight.com.

What’s your greatest fear?

To die unprepared.

Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?

I wish I understood social media and how to engage an audience with an ongoing project with the intention to create anticipation and buzz. Never got to do that. Now I’m at the end of a project, and no one is waiting for it or expects it.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

A. The one strategy that has paid off, again and again, is, working on tasks I enjoy and delegating out the tasks I don’t enjoy. The project gets done faster and better.

B. Going to sleep when I’m tired and waking up when I’m rested.

What keeps you going when things get tough?

My pets. My sweet dogs and parrots. Stepping away from the computer. Having a good night’s sleep, then looking at challenges with fresh eyes in the morning.
