Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Ebony L Ross, Founder and CEO of Rise Above Staffing, a nationwide Woman-Owned Staffing and Recruiting Agency in Virginia, USA. 

Hi, please tell us about your company, Rise Above Staffing.

Our niche is the Construction industry, and our motto we live by is Matching Rockstar Clients with Unicorn Candidates. 

When people hear construction, they automatically think of hard hats, vests, and being outside. The construction industry covers so much from Project Managers to Superintendents to Plumbers and Painters. Rise Above Staffing covers it all, from staffing to consulting.

Please tell us more about your journey.

My journey is not your typical journey. Some people may laugh at the idea of women in construction, but we know our stuff and get the job done on so many levels. I’m a mother of one and have always worked in an office setting for government agencies. The 9-5 life was cool, but it wasn’t enough. I wanted more. I wanted something more fast-paced, and I definitely received it when I decided to step out on faith and start my own agency. I’ve been blessed to have an amazing staff that goes above and beyond with our clients and candidates as well. Without my team, there is no Rise Above Staffing.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

Some of the strategies that have helped me become successful consist of staying true to my word, being consistent, being flexible, reliable, and easy to contact. I have always believed in a work-life balance, and that keeps my team happy. Whether it’s 1:00pm or 1:00 am, our clients and candidates will always be able to reach out and receive a response.
