Please tell us something about yourself.
I am Kenneth Tran. After graduating from UCLA, I became a digital marketing specialist and webmaster and spent the next 10 years working for startups and corporations in a variety of industries. I also used to own part of a gaming company and have been featured in Forbes, PC Gamer, VentureBeat, Breitbart, etc..
How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey?
I got a job after I graduated from university with a digital media and internet marketing company. The company paid for my training, and I learned about SEO, content marketing, social media, etc.. Originally, I was only hired to be an assistant, not a marketing specialist, but I worked hard, so they promoted me. I got lucky because most companies do not seriously train you/invest in you.
Who are your role models?
My mom and dad.
What inspires you?
I’m gonna have to say my mom and dad and many of my friends as well. It’s so inspirational to see them work so hard as immigrants from a third world country. They make me feel lazy, but I feel more motivated around them because I want to be as strong as they are in willpower.
Please tell us about your online school
So Invictus University is an online school that grants associates, bachelor’s, masters, and doctorate degrees in addition to professional certificates. We offer religious studies and business majors at the moment, but we’re expanding every day and will have more subjects in the near future. The classes are 100% online, and all programs are accelerated, so you graduate early. It’s all very affordable too, with tuition being between $500 to $1,000 for an entire degree.
What’s your most memorable experience?
Living and working in Vietnam for 3 months changed the way I look at life.
Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?
Linkedin is the best social media for my work. I just reach out to people and learn about them first before I even try to sell them something. LinkedIn helps me build relationships rather than cold calling/direct selling.
What’s your greatest fear?
Being homeless and left behind by society.
Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?
You cannot succeed without a strong work ethic. No matter how smart you think you are, you cannot beat somebody that works hard. This is a fact.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
If someone asks me for a favor, I try my best to do it without expecting something in return. Karma is real.
What keeps you going when things get tough?
Family, friends, God.
