Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Kat, owner of Fia Ro, a baby, toddler, and children’s boutique in Florida.
Please tell us about what it is that you do.
I am the Mama of Sophia and a little boy on the way! My passion for fashion started at a young age. I knew I wanted to be in the fashion industry someway, somehow. I went to school for apparel design and soon after opened up my own Bridal Boutique. I didn’t know much about owning a business or even bridal for that matter; I just knew I had to try!
Please tell us more about your journey.
I learned so much in my two-year journey with my boutique. I went on from there to work in corporate retail for 7 years, traveling all over the Eastern coast of the US and the Bahamas. Although I truly enjoyed my retail experience, I knew I was meant to be an entrepreneur.
My husband and I welcomed our Daughter in 2017, and that is when the planning all began! I quit my corporate job in 2019 and launched “Fia Ro” that same year!
Please tell us about your boutique ‘Fia Ro.’
I have always wanted this boutique to be a reflection of my creativity and passion. I wanted unique items that were adorable yet affordable. Currently, we offer a wide variety of little girl’s clothing and accessories, sizes ranging from newborn to 6 years old. I have incorporated small collections for boys, Mama’s, and even your fur babies! I plan to expand these collections soon!
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I quickly realized that e-commerce was very different from my brick and mortar business; I ran myself a few years back. It was like starting over from scratch. I read a lot and reached out to many experts, but in the long run, you have to believe in yourself and ultimately figure things out on your own!
Creating your website and filling it with the amazing product is the fun and “easy” part. Creating ads that convert and keeping up with the ever-changing algorithms of Google, Facebook, and Instagram is what is challenging! Trial and error is a phrase I heard on a daily basis!
For anyone looking to open your own business, I say go for it! It is ultimately very rewarding, and you will learn so much about yourself and the expanding e-commerce world!
