An interaction with Taylor Hewitt – Inland Empire’s Premier Custom Pool Builder

Interview of Successful entrepreneur from Southern California - Inland Empire. Businessman in premier custom pool building industry shares his success story

Welcome Guys!

Today we have the privilege of interviewing Taylor Hewitt, He is an entrepreneur based out of Southern California.

1. Welcome Taylor, Please tell us something about yourself.

I was born and raised in Calimesa / Redlands area. After school, I moved to San Diego for a few years, but eventually, I found my way back home in the Inland Empire.

I will be turning 30 this year, and I feel like I have done well for my age. I am married to an incredible woman, own my own home, and am the CEO of my own business, Champagne Pools & Electrical, Inc.

2. How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey?

I was born into this business. My dad was in the pool excavation business since before I was born. I grew up in the pool construction business spending many summers going with my dad on digs.

My dad had been excavating pools for nearly 4 decades when I decided to join the business and expand it into Champagne Pool & Electrical, Inc.

Since then, we have been continuously growing as we build our reputation as the Inland Empire’s premier custom pool builder.

3. Who are your role models?

Obviously, my dad was a huge role model. He was a self-made entrepreneur and a very hard worker. I looked up to him

4. What inspires you?

I have always been driven to succeed and never to let my family down. The fear of failure has pushed me to work hard and do what I have to to be successful.

5. Please tell us about your company.

In 2016 I started Champagne Pools. As the CEO, I wanted to make a difference in the pool industry. I work hard to build the highest quality inground swimming pools at prices that affordable. I am able to do this by working with suppliers in the industry to obtain the best pricing on the highest quality construction materials and working with the most experienced subcontractors in Southern California.

An inground swimming pool is an enormous home improvement project. Not just the cost but the amount of work that will be done is huge. Our customers deserve the absolute best experience with their purchase.

6. What’s your most memorable experience?

The slow period we had in early 2019. It was a really tough time. The business was slow just after the holidays, and we had record rainfalls through January. Rain doesn’t work very well with freshly excavated pools; they turn it a muddy mess. Not being able to work for most of the month and business below was a real eye-opener, financially and emotionally.

7. How are you using different social media channels/online marketing to market your work?

My go-to has been Facebook. I started marketing on Facebook, and it has worked to help build up my brand.

I later built a website that is doing very well. I get a lot of leads through the website. I also have a second site that brings in leads as well (Inland Empire Pool Builders)

8. Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?

How hard it would be. Being a business owner isn’t as easy as it looks. It’s a lot of hard work and tough decisions.

9. What are the success strategies/secrets that helped you in your journey?

First off being honest, that is – being honest with your customers and employees. My business has been built on integrity.

I have connected with other local pool builders, and we talk about the business and what is working and not working. We are competitors and friends at the same time. It’s a good relationship to have.

10. What keeps you going when things get tough?

Like I mentioned earlier, fear of failure. There have been a few times where I was about to throw the towel in, but I stayed in a little longer and was able to get things turned around.

11. How can people connect with you?

I am most active on Facebook
