We had the pleasure of interviewing Youssef Semaan, Operations Manager at Lift Mart Elevators and Escalators LLC, Dubai, UAE. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
Hi, Great to have you with us! Please introduce yourself and tell us about what it is that you do.
Hi, my name is Youssef Semaan, and I am an elevator fanatic, part-time chef (for myself), and a big-time family man. I am passionate about the field of vertical transportation and have dedicated my career to elevators and escalators. It is a fascinating industry that combines engineering, technology, and innovation.
Please share an exciting achievement of yours.
One of the most exciting achievements of my career so far has been building and implementing an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system tailored specifically to our industry. It has been a ground-breaking project that aims to revolutionize the way we operate and manage our business. I am currently working on finalizing the details of another revolutionary tool and cannot wait to unveil it to the world.
What are the biggest factors that have helped you achieve success?
One of the biggest factors that have helped me achieve success is the constant self-assessment of where I was and where I wanted to be. I have made it a habit to read books by great individuals, which has allowed me to gain different perspectives and insights into the world. Continuous learning and personal growth have been instrumental in my journey.
What are your success habits?
I have developed several success habits that contribute to my personal and professional growth. One of them is reading business books, particularly focusing on sales and marketing. I firmly believe that every aspect of life comes down to selling, so honing my skills in this area has been crucial. Additionally, I make it a point to hit the gym at 6:30 AM without fail, eat clean to maintain my physical and mental well-being, and surround myself with like-minded individuals who are driven by their goals.
What has been one of the hardest decisions you have ever made?
One of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make was selecting the person to promote from a high-performing sales team. It was challenging because each team member had unique strengths and had contributed significantly to the team’s success. However, I had to carefully evaluate various factors and make a decision that would benefit both the individual and the company.
What is the best advice that you would like to give to our readers?
My best advice would be to write down your goals, scan them, and make them the background of your phone’s home page. By keeping your goals constantly in front of you, you create a sense of restlessness and motivation to achieve them. It serves as a reminder of what you are working towards and keeps you focused on your objectives.
What is your favorite quote?
“I’d rather be optimistic and wrong than pessimistic and right.”
This quote resonates with me because it highlights the importance of maintaining a positive mindset, even when facing challenges or uncertainty. Optimism can lead to opportunities and breakthroughs, while pessimism can hinder progress.
What motivates you?
What motivates me to get out of bed in the morning is the knowledge that I have the ability to revolutionize the industry and give back to those in need. The prospect of making a lasting impact in people’s lives and contributing to advancements in the vertical transportation field drives me to give my best each day.
