Experience the Healing Touch of Connie Leininger’s Writing in “Wounded Souls”

If you’re on the hunt for a novel that weaves together themes of forgiveness, healing, and second chances, Connie Leininger’s Wounded Souls might just be your next favorite read. This captivating story blends humor, romance, and a touch of spice to tackle serious issues in a way that’s both engaging and heartfelt.

Peyton’s Path: Balancing Love and Motherhood

At the heart of the story is Peyton, an honor student whose bright future takes an unexpected turn after a single night leads to an unplanned pregnancy. Now a young mother to her daughter Riley, Peyton finds herself navigating the complicated waters of co-parenting with Colby, Riley’s father. Colby still ignites a spark in her heart, but his casual approach to commitment leaves Peyton questioning her own worth and fearing that true love might always be just out of reach.

Peyton’s journey is one many can relate to—the struggle between following your heart and protecting it. Her vulnerability and strength make her a character you’ll root for from the very beginning. As she juggles her responsibilities and emotions, Peyton embodies the challenges and triumphs of young motherhood, all while searching for her own happiness.

Gabe’s Mission: A Second Chance at Redemption

Enter Gabe, a man with a mysterious past and a mission that transcends the ordinary. Gabe carries the soul of Emmett, Peyton’s grandfather, who left the world with many things unsaid and undone. Emmett was given a unique choice at the end of his life: to live out his remaining days unable to communicate or to pass his time on Earth to someone who has never taken a breath. Choosing the latter, he becomes Gabe, tasked with protecting his family and guiding them toward forgiveness.

Gabe’s interactions with Peyton are filled with wisdom and gentle nudges that remind her—and us—that life is too short for doubt and hesitation. His character adds a layer of supernatural intrigue to the story, blending the lines between reality and the spiritual in a way that’s both touching and thought-provoking. Gabe’s own journey of redemption and his efforts to help Peyton avoid his past mistakes create a compelling narrative thread that keeps you turning the pages.

A Tale of Love, Redemption, and New Beginnings

As Peyton and Gabe’s worlds intertwine, the story unfolds into a rich tapestry of emotions and revelations. Peyton must decide whether to take a leap of faith with Colby or let fear dictate her future. Meanwhile, Gabe grapples with the distractions that threaten his mission, jeopardizing his ability to help Peyton discover her truth and find a path toward healing.

Connie Leininger masterfully balances serious themes with moments of humor and romance. Her characters are flawed and quirky, making them all the more real and relatable. The dynamics between Peyton, Colby, and Gabe explore the complexities of love, trust, and forgiveness. The story reminds us that every ending can spark a new beginning if we’re brave enough to embrace it.

We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Hi, Please introduce yourself and tell us about what you do.

My name is Connie Leininger. I am a native of St. Louis, Missouri, and currently retired. I enjoy traveling and exploring Missouri wineries. When not spending time with friends and family, I can be found walking my feisty cattle dog, Wiley.

Please tell us about your book Wounded Souls.

The theme of my book is forgiveness and healing. At the end of Emmett’s life, He is given a choice: He can live out the rest of his days unable to communicate or bequeath his time to someone who has never taken a breath on earth. His choice gives life to Gabe, whose mission is to protect Emmett’s family and help them find forgiveness.

Emmett’s grandaughter, Peyton, is a single mother who balances a complicated relationship with her daughter’s father, Colby, and her fiancé, Braden, who struggles in a post-pandemic economy.

Their worlds intersect, and as Gabe works to fulfill his assignment, he finds himself distracted and falls short of his goals, jeopardizing his ability to help Peyton discover her truth and find a path toward healing.

I believe Wounded Souls is fun to read. Although it deals with serious issues, it mixes humor and romance with a little spice.

What inspired you to write Wounded Souls

I was inspired to write Wounded Souls many years ago while working and raising my family. Although I made several attempts to start a novel, I eventually deleted everything. It wasn’t until I retired and had time to focus that I could complete it.

Even though I had an outline to follow, the characters would sometimes take over, and I was surprised at how the plot unfolded. Those are some of my favorite chapters. I didn’t always write chapters in order, either. If I got an idea for a dialog or a scene, I felt the need to write it out quickly so I didn’t lose it. Unfortunately, I exceeded my word count and had to painfully cut characters and storylines.

Any message for our readers

My characters are flawed and quirky, and I hope you love them as much as I do.

Thank you so much, Connie, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
