Some books speak softly. Others arrive with the force of lived truth. Finally Figured It Out: Shattering Generational Curses. A Journey from Brokenness to Healing by Rhonda Harris carries that force with grace and honesty.
Opening Reflections
In her debut memoir, Rhonda Harris steps forward with a voice shaped by experience and faith. She begins with a powerful realization: she was born into brokenness, though she did not recognize it at the time. As a child, survival felt ordinary. Silence felt noble. Love, even when it hurt, felt familiar.
That early conditioning framed much of her life. Rhonda grew up surrounded by patterns she later came to understand as generational curses. They were not dramatic in the way movies portray hardship. They were subtle, woven into everyday interactions, family expectations, and unspoken rules. Pain traveled quietly from one generation to the next.
She often sensed she was different within her own family. It was not a matter of superiority or rebellion. It was an inner awareness that something did not quite fit. She tried to adapt. She tried to meet expectations. Yet a persistent thought remained in her heart: there had to be more than survival.
That thought became the seed of change.
Facing the Weight of the Past
Rhonda does not shy away from the hard chapters of her life. She writes about trauma, abandonment, betrayal, and the complicated relationship she shared with her mother. She reflects on the devastating loss of her brother, a grief that left lasting marks on her heart. These moments are shared to reveal the depth of what she carried.
Marriage and motherhood brought their own revelations. As she built her own family, Rhonda began to see the patterns more clearly. Behaviors, emotional responses, and unresolved wounds threatened to repeat themselves through her children. That awareness stirred something powerful inside her.
Silence, which once felt like strength, began to feel heavy. Truth demanded space. Rhonda realized that if she remained quiet, the cycle would continue. If she spoke, if she faced what had been ignored for years, there was a chance for freedom.
Faith became her anchor. She describes leaning into God’s grace when her own strength felt insufficient. Determination carried her through moments of doubt. Prayer, reflection, and honest conversations shaped her path forward. Healing unfolded step by step, often through uncomfortable growth.
Throughout the memoir, Rhonda speaks directly to those who feel trapped in patterns they did not create. Her words acknowledge the exhaustion of constantly fighting battles that began long before one’s birth. At the same time, she offers a steady reminder that cycles can end.
Reclaiming Identity and Purpose
A powerful thread running through Finally Figured It Out is identity. Rhonda describes herself as born a boss, a fighter, a survivor, and a leader. Those qualities were always present, though they were sometimes buried beneath fear and confusion. Over time, she learned to recognize them as gifts rather than defenses.
Her professional life reflects that strength. With a background in military and nonprofit service, Rhonda has spent more than a decade supporting those who serve others. She worked alongside military officials and medical professionals before stepping into a Workplace Administrator role within a nonprofit organization. Encouragement and service are her daily practices.
At home, she embraces her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother with pride. She finds joy in cooking soulful meals, diving into a good book, or enjoying a favorite movie. These simple pleasures stand as evidence of her growth. Peace has replaced chaos. Stability has replaced uncertainty.
The memoir moves from survival to ownership. Rhonda claims that her past no longer controls her. She chose to confront the curses, name them, and dismantle them. In doing so, she reshaped her family’s future.
Her story resonates deeply with cycle-breakers. She writes for those healing while still carrying scars. She writes for those who feel isolated in their awareness, sensing that something must change even when others remain comfortable with the familiar. Her testimony stands as proof that transformation is possible.

We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
I’m Rhonda Harris, a first-time author, speaker, and advocate for healing and generational transformation. I help women break free from cycles of pain, trauma, and limiting beliefs so they can walk in wholeness and purpose. Through my writing, speaking, and upcoming YouTube platform, I share real, raw experiences about healing, faith, sisterhood, and self-discovery. My mission is to create safe spaces where women feel seen, heard, and empowered to rewrite their stories.
Please tell us about your journey.
My journey has been one of brokenness, resilience, and ultimately healing. I grew up navigating complex family dynamics, deep emotional wounds, and experiences that shaped how I saw myself and others. For years, I carried pain, anger, and survival habits that affected my relationships and my sense of identity.
But through faith, self-reflection, and intentional healing, I began to confront the generational patterns that had been passed down to me. I made the decision to stop running from my pain and start doing the inner work. My book, Finally Figured It Out: Shattering Generational Curses – A Journey from Brokenness to Healing, is a reflection of that process. It’s my testimony of transformation and a reminder that healing is possible, no matter where you start.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
The biggest strategy was choosing healing daily, even when it was uncomfortable. I had to be honest with myself, set boundaries, and release the need to control everything. I leaned heavily on faith, prayer, journaling, and surrounding myself with people who supported my growth.
I also learned that success isn’t perfection—it’s consistency. Small, intentional steps over time helped me rebuild my confidence and redefine what success looks like. Letting go of expectations and walking in alignment with who God created me to be was a major turning point.
Any message for our readers
Give yourself permission to heal and grow at your own pace. You are not your past, your mistakes, or the pain you’ve experienced. Healing is not linear, but every step forward matters.
You don’t have to carry everything alone. There is strength in vulnerability and freedom in letting go. The life you desire is possible when you choose yourself and trust the process. Your story still has purpose.
Thank you so much, Rhonda, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
